1、Designation: D 2419 09Standard Test Method forSand Equivalent Value of Soils and Fine Aggregate1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 2419; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision.
2、A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. 3、ld-correlation test. The purpose of this test method is to indicate, under standard conditions, the relative proportions of clay-likeor plastic fines and dust in granular soils and fine aggregatesthat pass the 4.75-mm (No. 4) sieve. The term “sand equiva-lent” expresses the concept that most granular
4、 soils and fineaggregates are mixtures of desirable coarse particles, sand, andgenerally undesirable clay or plastic fines and dust.NOTE 1Some agencies perform the test on material with a top sizesmaller than the 4.75-mm (No. 4) sieve. This is done to avoid trapping theclay-like or plastic fines and

Testing smaller top sized material may lowerthe numerical results of the test.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard.
