INCH-POUND A-A-554 4 2 February 10, 1995 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION JAR, SCREW CAP The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers the re

2、quirements for a 1-fluid pint, 16-ounce capacity, screw cap jar for general purposes. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. This jar, screw cap, shall be supplied without a metal lid. Any commercially available standard i-pint canning jar may be used. The nominal top inside diameter shall be 3-1/4 inches. Thi

3、s is standard for this type of wide mouth jar. 2.1 Phvsical and chemical properties. This jar, screw cap, shall conform to the requirements of ASTM standard E438, Type I, Class A when tested in accordance with ASTM Test Method EZ28. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/con

4、tractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulati.on (FAR). Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest version of FED-STD-376, Preferred

7、 Metric Units for General Use by the Federal Government, and all other requirements of this commercial item description, including form, fit, and function, are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a reque

8、st should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The ccntravting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that t

9、he product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government re

10、serves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery, and thereafter, as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 5. PRESERVATION, PACKAGING, PACKING, AND MARKING. Preser- vation, packaging, packing, and marking for shipment shall be in accordance

11、with ASTM D 3951, Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging, or as specified in the contract or order. 6. NOTES 6.1 Addresses for obtaininq reference documents. 6.1.1 ASTM documents.
