Sie werden in Deutschland bereitsseit vielen Jahren zur Abgrenzung und berwa-chung belasteter Gebiete, in UV

16、P-Verfahren und inlangfristigen Umweltbeobachtungsprogrammen erfolgreich eingesetzt (1 bis 5 und die Richtli-nienreihe VDI 3957, insbesondere Blatt 1). Auch international haben sich solche Verfahren seit eini-gen Jahren etabliert und im Rahmen der Europi-schen Strategie fr Umwelt und Gesundheit“ nac

17、hKOM(2003)338 sowie der 4. Tochterrichtlinie derLuftqualittsrahmenrichtlinie ber Arsen, Cadmi-um, Quecksilber, Nickel und polyzyklische aroma-tische Kohlenwasserstoffe in der Luft“ nachKOM(2003)423 ist der routinemige Einsatz von Bioindikatoren vorgesehen. Es gibt zwei verschiedene Strategien fr das

18、 Bio-monitoring von Luftverunreinigungen: das aktiveund das passive. Beim aktiven Biomonitoring werden eigens ange-zogene oder ausgewhlte Pflanzen im Untersu-chungsgebiet exponiert und nach Ende einer fest-gelegten Expositionszeit auf Immissionswirkungenuntersucht. Beim passiven Biomonitoring werden

19、Pflanzen, die im Untersuchungsgebiet wachsen, zueinem bestimmten Zeitpunkt untersucht. Der Zeit-aufwand im Gelnde beschrnkt sich damit im Wesentlichen auf die Bonitur und Probenahme. Bei Verfahren des aktiven Biomonitorings wiedem standardisierten Graskulturverfahren (6; VDI 3957 Blatt 2) knnen die

20、Randbedingungen(Bodenverhltnisse, Wasserversorgung, Pflanzen-alter) im Detail vorgegeben werden. Beim passivenBiomonitoring knnen die Randbedingungen, sowie sie im Gelnde vorgefunden werden, entwederIntroduction Plants are directly affected by air pollutants. 21、or many years to delimit and monitor polluted areas, in the course of environmental impact assessment proce-dures, and in long-term ecological monitoring pro-grams (1 to 5 and the guideline series VDI 3957, in particular Part 1). On an international level such procedures have been established in rec

22、ent years, and in the context of the “European Environment and Health Strategy” following KOM(2003)338, as well as the “4thdaughter directive of the air quality framework guideline on arsenic, cadmium, mer-cury, nickel and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in air” following KOM(2003)423, the routine

23、use of bioindicators is intended. There are two different strategies for the biomoni-toring of air pollutants: active and passive bio-monitoring. In case of active biomonitoring specially cultured or selected plants are exposed in the study area and tested for pollution effects at the end of a fixed

24、 exposure time. In case of passive biomonitoring plants which grow in the study area are examined at a specific date. The expenditure of time in the field is thereby basically reduced to the time needed for the rating and sampling. Procedures of active biomonitoring like the stan-dardised grass cult

25、ure (6; VDI 3957 Part 2) pro-vide extensive control over environmental growth conditions (e. g. soil conditions, water supply, developmental stage). Bei-spiele aktueller europischer und nationaler Pro-gramme s

29、ind das Europische Moosmonitoring11bis 13 sowie die Erhebungen im Rahmen derUmweltprobenbank des Bundes 14 und der im 12 Bundesnaturschutzgesetz (BNatSchG) veran-kerten Umweltbeobachtung von Bund und Lndern15. Die fortlaufend in diesen Programmen auch imInternet berichteten Analysendaten knnen sinn-

30、voller Weise zur Interpretation der auf dieserRichtlinie basierenden Ergebnisse herangezogenwerden (vgl. Abschnitt 8, Bild 1). Bei Vergleichen verschiedener Untersuchungen muss allerdings geprft werden, ob eine vergleichbare Probenahmestattgefunden hat. So ist beispielsweise beim hu-fig angewandten

31、passiven Biomonitoring mittels Koniferennadeln darauf zu achten, dass in einigenUntersuchungen statt der Nadeln ganze Triebeanalysiert werden und es bei bestimmten Stoffenim Vergleich zur Nadelprobe zu abweichenden Ergebnissen kommen kann 16. Ebenso ist zubercksichtigen, ob Proben von einzeln stehen

34、re ana-lyzed for heavy metals, in order to determine the amount and distribution of the background pollu-tion by input of these elements and substances.Examples of current European and national pro-grams are the European Moss Monitoring Pro-gramme 11 to 13, as well as the assessment in the framework

35、 of the German Environmental Speci-men Bank 14 and the ecological monitoring byFederal organisations and the Laender 15, as setin 12 of the Federal Nature Protection Law. Current analytical results from these programmes, being continuously updated and accessible also through internet, can be used fo

36、r the interpretation of results based on the present guideline (see Sec-tion 8, Figure 1). When comparing different stud-ies, careful examination is needed to ensure com-parability of sampling procedures. For example in the frequently used passive biomonitoring by means of conifer needles, attention

37、 must be paid to the fact that in some investigations instead of the needles alone, the whole shoots are analysed, which can lead in case of particular substances to divergent results compared to the needle sample16. Likewise it is to be considered whether sam-ples are taken from solitary trees or f

38、rom trees in closed stands, in low height or in the crown area. 1 Anwendungsbereich Diese Richtlinie ersetzt die Richtlinie VDI 3792 Blatt 5:1991-06. Im Folgenden werden Kriterien zur Auswahl derMesspunkte und Baumarten genannt, die Metho-den der Probenahme und Probenaufbereitung so-wie des Nachweises von Immiss

46、ionseinfluss be-schrieben. Bezglich der phytotoxischen Wirkun-gen von Luftschadstoffen auf Pflanzen wird auf dieVerffentlichungen von 27 bis 30 hingewiesen. Examples for normal values of nutrient element concentrations of spruce needles (Picea abies L.) are specified in VDI 3957 Part 5 and in 18; 19 whereas in 20; 21 also data concerning some heavy metals and persistent organic/pollut-ants (POPs) in coniferous and deciduous trees are

48、given. Reference values for beech and poplar leaves as well as for spruce and pine shoots are currently published by the German Environmental Specimen Bank 14. Further basic informationconcerning the vertical and horizontal nutrient and pollutant distribution in coniferous and deciduous trees as wel

A detailed description of the statistical variation occurring in each of the individual process steps and under methodical modifications is presented in 26.
