MATERIAL: The helmet body shell shall be fiber glass reinforced plasticor thermoplastic with characteristics suitable for production weldingconditions. All material shall be a nonconductor of hea

4、t andelectricity. The cover plate shall be slow burning plastic to protectthe filter plates from damage. All materials used in helmets shall becapable of withstanding repeated sterilization.3. CONSTRUCTION:3.1 The shell body shall be firmly pivoted to an adjustable headgear insuch a manner as to per

5、mit raising from the face to inoperativeposition without removing. Body to be equipped with glass holder,which is to provide a simple, efficient and practicable method ofinserting and replacing standard cover and filter glasses.Stationary glass holders shall be either an integral part of themolded s

6、hell or a lightweight sturdy metal material added to theshell.3.2 Lift-front glassholders shall consist of the body molded as anintegral part of the shell with a lightweight sturdy metal lid. Theliftable lid shall telescope within the molded body when closed toprovide a positive seal. The hinge mech

7、anism shall hold the lid inthe fully open or closed position but shall not catch or bind in apartially open or closed position. The headgear may be fitted witha removable and replaceable sweatband covering at least the foreheadportion of the headband.3.3 Hand shield shall be furnished with a handle

8、in place of headgear.3.4 All interior parts shall have permanent nonreflecting finish and theentire construction shall be free from light leaks. SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY: All material supplied to this standardmust be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon whichapproval was originally granted, and shall be satisfactory for theintended application.6. APPROVAL OF NEW SUPPLIERS:6.1 Pricing of helmets from proposed new suppliers

13、 should be determinedto be cost competitive by Purchasing and Supply Staff prior toobtaining laboratory and shop trial approvals. After the producthas been determined to be cost competitive, gloves submitted by newmanufacturers to this standard and concluded to be cost competitivemust have laborator

14、y and shop trial approvals. Recommendations forthe addition of new manufacturers to the Manufacturing ApprovedSource List (ASL) must be made by the appropriate division standardsactivity in writing to the Plant Engineering Office, ManufacturingStaff. All supporting data must accompany the written request.6.2 The Plant Engineering Office, Manufacturing Staff, and theEnvironmental Health and Safety Manager, Employee Relations Staff,will review requests to determine approval.
