The basis for establishing such tolerances shall be the overall dimension of the forging nmax viewed in the direction of forging (see Figures 4 and 5). 6.1.4.2 Forgings without machining all over The mismatch (offset) tolerances on forgi

Table 9 - Tolerances on mismatch (offset) for forgings with machining all over 6.1.5 Flash and fin projections 6.1.5.1 General Flashes are formed by metal extruding between the mating surfaces of the dies and are e

31、ither cut off by mechanical means or removed using hand tools. Tolerances for the residual flash projections (see Figure 8) shall be as specified in Table IO. The fin or burr formed on the outline of certain forgings during the forming and fettling operations, notably near to the mating surfaces of

32、the dies, known as stamping, fettling or infiltration fins shall also be similarly restricted. Tolerances for fin projections (see Figure 9) shall be as specified in Table 11. 6.1.5.2 Flash projections Tolerances for flash projections shall be as specified in Table IO. Flash projections shall be mea

38、included in the dies to facilitate release of the part (see Figure 11). Tolerances for ejector marks shall be as specified in Table 12. The basic dimension for establishing such tolerances shall be the projected area A (see Figure 3). The diameter and location of ejector marks shall be agreed betwee

39、n supplier and purchaser. The tolerance for an O - 0,8 mm or +f8 mm respectively. 6.1.8 Flatness and straightness Warpage or distortion of the forging profile may occur as a result of the forging or heat treatment operations. Maximum deviations from flatness and straightness are indepen

43、dent of other dimensional tolerances and shall be applied separately. The basis for establishing such deviations is the largest overall dimension of the forging nmax viewed in the direction of forging see Figures 12 and 13). Measurement of deviation from flatness shall be made from a reference level

44、 (surface table or formed by three interrelated datum points, see Figures 12 and 13), whilst deviation from straightness shall be determined using a straight edge (see Figure 13). Datum points, where used, shall be agreed between purchaser and supplier at the time of ordering. For establishing datum

Draft angles describe the taper applied to the side walls of the die impressions in order to facilitate removal of the part after forging. These lie in a plane perpendicular to the die parting plan
