This standard has been prepared by Working Group NA 055-02-01 AA Abzge und Laborlufttechnik of the Normenausschuss Laborgerte und Laboreinrichtungen

7、 (FNLa) (Laboratory Devices and Installations Standards Committee). DIN 12924 Laboratory furniture Fume cupboards consists of the following parts: Part 2: Special application fume cupboards Part 3: Opposite-sided sash fume cupboards Part 4: Fume cupboards for pharmacies NOTE DIN 12924-1:1991-08 has

8、been replaced by DIN EN 14175-1:2003-08, DIN EN 14175-2:2003-08 and DIN EN 14175-3:2004-03. Amendments This standard differs from DIN 12924-3:1993-04 as follows: a) the requirements have been adapted to DIN EN 14175-2; b) the tests have been adapted to DIN EN 14175-3; c) requirements with regard to

9、design and light protection shields have been changed; d) single sheet laminated safety glass has been cancelled as the material for the sash; e) requirements with regard to the fume cupboards air flow indicator and service outlets are stated more precisely; f) the marking has been changed. 10、 editions DIN 12924-3: 1993-04 DIN 12924-3:2011-01 4 1 Scope This standard applies to opposite-sided sash fume cupboards that are equipped with two sashes opposing each other. Opposite-sided sash fume cupboards are mainly used in scientific classrooms and are usually installed between the classroom

11、and the preparation room. It specifies the particular requirements resulting from the design with two sashes. For general requirements DIN EN 14175-2 applies and, if need be, DIN EN 14175-6 for opposite-sided sash fume cupboards with variable air volume. 2 Normative references The following referenc

15、operation 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in DIN EN 14175-1, DIN EN 14175-3 and the following apply. 3.1 opposite-sided sash fume cupboard bench-type fume cupboard that can be operated from two fronts 4 Safety objectives In accordance with D

16、IN EN 14175-2 with the following addition: The safety objectives apply for both operating sides of the opposite-sided sash fume cupboard. The flow of air between the two operating sides shall be avoided. NOTE A difference of face velocity 100 % of the lower face velocity, measured if one sash is clo

17、sed, indicates the flow of air from one side to another. DIN 12924-3:2011-01 5 5 Dimensions Opposite-sided sash fume cupboards should preferably comply with the dimensions given in Table 1. Further dimensions shall be in accordance with DIN EN 14175-2:2003-08, Clause 4. Table 1 Preferable dimensions

19、afety glass in accordance with DIN EN ISO 12543-1 or suitable plastic materials shall be used. 7 Design 7.1 Requirements 7.1.1 General The design shall be in accordance with DIN EN 14175-2 and, if appropriate, in accordance with DIN EN 14175-6 for opposite-sided sash fume cupboards with variable air

20、 volume, with the following additions. When the fume cupboard is operated from the preparation room, visual contact to the classroom shall be possible. 7.1.2 Fume cupboard underbench unit If the opposite-sided sash fume cupboard is equipped with an underbench unit to hold chemicals, this underbench

21、unit should be either inaccessible from the classroom-side or lockable. 7.1.3 Closing of sashes At least one sash side shall be closed to ensure the safety function of opposite-sided sash fume cupboards in terms of ventilation. A visual and acoustic alarm shall be released in the case of both sashes

22、 being open at the same time. The acoustic alarm may be deactivatable after triggering. 7.1.4 Light protection shields Opposite-sided sash fume cupboards may be equipped with light protection shields either on one or on both sides, which can be operated independently of the sashes without suppressin

23、g the alarm in the case of both sashes being open. DIN 12924-3:2011-01 6 7.2 Testing Testing of the requirements in accordance with 7.1.1 to 7.1.4 is by visual inspection and function check. 8 Airflow 8.1 Requirements In accordance with DIN EN 14175-2:2003-08, Clause 8. 8.2 Testing Testing of contai

24、nment in the outer measurement plane in accordance with DIN EN 14175-3:2004-03, 5.3, and robustness testing in accordance with DIN EN 14175-3:2004-03, 5.4 shall be executed on both fronts of the opposite-sided sash fume cupboard. The opposite-sided sash fume cupboard shall be installed in the test r

25、oom centred toward a wall with a distance of 0,3 m to 0,5 m from the wall so that air can flow into the fume cupboard on the side with the closed sash. 9 Fume cupboard air flow indicator 9.1 Requirements In accordance with DIN EN 14175-2:2003-08, 8.2 opposite-sided sash fume cupboards shall be equip

26、ped on both operating sides with an air flow indicator with an acoustic and visual alarm. The visual alarm may be, for instance, a red blinking lamp within the visual field of the fume cupboard operator. The acoustic alarm may be deactivatable after triggering. NOTE General requirements for visual d

27、anger signals are specified in DIN EN 842. Special attention is to be paid to the corrosion resistance of sensors and, if need be, actuators within the extract air system. 9.2 Testing In accordance with DIN EN 14175-3:2004-03, Clause 7 and a visual test of the requirements additionally specified in

28、9.1. 10 Services 10.1 General In accordance with DIN EN 14175-2:2003-08, Clause 9, with the following alterations. 10.2 Gas outlets Gas outlets for fuel gases in the classroom and in the preparation room shall be part of the respective safety systems in accordance with DVGW G 621. All gas outlets in

29、 the fume cupboards workspace shall be allocated to the respective operating side. Furthermore it shall be ensured that gas can only be supplied from the respective allocated operating side. DIN 12924-3:2011-01 7 10.3 Electrical sockets No electrical sockets shall be installed in the workspace of op

30、posite-sided sash fume cupboards. The electrical sockets shall be allocated to one operating side each and shall be part of the respective emergency switch-off device of either the classroom or the preparation room. Opposite-sided sash fume cupboards are classified as experimental rigs in accordance

31、 with DIN 57789-100 (VDE 0789-100). 11 User manual The user manual shall meet the requirements in accordance with DIN EN 14175-2:2003-08, Clause 10, with the following addition: It shall be pointed out that the opposite-sided sash fume cupboard can only meet its ventilation safety function if one of

32、 the two sashes is closed. 12 Marking and labelling In accordance with DIN EN 14175-2 with the following modification: Conformity on the fume cupboard shall be indicated by labelling “DIN 12924-3:2011” instead of “EN 14175-2”.
