Specification Requirements4.1 The properties of woven fabric for mens, womens, andchildrens handkerchiefs shall conform to the specificationrequirements in Table 1.5. Significance and Use5.1 Upon mutual agreement

16、between the purchaser and thesupplier, fabrics intended for this end use should meet all of therequirements listed in Table 1 of this specification.5.2 It is recognized that for purposes of fashion or aestheticsthe ultimate consumer of articles made from these fabrics mayfind acceptable fabrics that

17、 do not conform to all of therequirements in Table 1. Therefore, one or more of therequirements listed in Table 1 may be modified by mutualagreement between the purchaser and the supplier.5.2.1 In such cases, any references to the specification shallspecify that: “This fabric meets ASTM Specificatio

18、n D 4153except for the following characteristic(s).”5.3 Where no prepurchase agreement has been reachedbetween the purchaser and the supplier, and in case ofcontroversy, the requirements listed in Table 1 are intended tobe used as a guide only. As noted in 5.2, ultimate consumerdemands dictate varyi

19、ng performance parameters for anyparticular style of fabric.5.4 The uses and significance of particular properties andtest methods are discussed in the appropriate sections of thespecified test methods.6. Sampling6.1 Lot SampleAs a lot sample for acceptance testing,take at random the number of rolls

20、 as directed in an applicablespecification or other agreement between the purchaser and theseller, such as an agreement to use MIL-STD-105.6.2 Laboratory SampleFrom each roll or piece in the lotsample, cut two laboratory samples the full width of the fabric,and at least 375 mm (15 in.) along the sel

21、vage.6.2.1 If there has been no prior agreement and the testmethod does not specify the number of specimens, use theprocedures in Practice D 2905 to determine the number ofspecimens, such that the user may expect at the 95% probabil-ity level that the test result is no more than 5% of the averageabo

22、ve or below the lot average (that is, the average that wouldbe obtained by applying this method to the entire lot) whenusing a reliable estimate of variability of individual observa-tions on similar materials in the users laboratory underconditions of single-operator precision.7. Test Methods (see N

23、ote 1)7.1 Breaking ForceDetermine the dry breaking force, inthe standard atmosphere for testing textiles, as directed in TestMethod D 5034, using a constant rate of traverse (CRT) tensiletesting machine with the speed of the pulling clamp at 300 610 mm (12 6 0.5 in.)/min.NOTE 2If preferred, the use

24、of a constant-rate-of-extension (CRE)testing machine is permitted. The crosshead speed should be as agreedupon between the purchaser and the supplier. There may be no overallcorrelation between the results obtained with the CRT machine and theCRE machine. Consequently, these two breaking load tester

25、s cannot beused interchangeably. In case of controversy, the CRT machine shallprevail.7.2 Tear StrengthDetermine the tear strength as directedin Test Method D 2262.NOTE 3If preferred, the use of Test Method D 1424 or Test MethodD 2261 is permitted with existing requirements as given in this perfor-m

26、ance specification. There may be no overall correlation between theresults obtained with the tongue tear machines and the Elmendorfmachine. Consequently, these three testers cannot be used interchange-ably. In case of controversy, Test Method D 2262 shall prevail.7.3 Dimensional Change in Laundering

27、 Determine themaximum dimensional change after five launderings, or asagreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier, asdirected in the applicable procedure in AATCC TestMethod 135.7.4 Colorfastness:7.4.1 LaunderingDetermine the colorfastness to launder-ing as directed in AATCC Test Method 61. 28、he test conditionsshall be as specified by the supplier.7.4.2 Burnt Gas FumesDetermine the colorfastness toburnt gas fumes on the original fabric and after one launderingas directed in AATCC Test Method 23.NOTE 4Washing conditions shall be the same as those used in 7.3.7.4.3 CrockingDetermine the co
