Scope1.1 This specific

3、ation covers all-purpose, taping and finish-ing joint compounds, paper joint tape and glass-mesh jointtape.1.1.1 The joint materials used in this standard are designedto be used with gypsum board installed in accordance withSpecification C 840.1.2 This specification also covers the minimum require-m

4、ents for an assembly of taping and all-purpose compound andjoint tape.1.3 The text of this specification references notes andfootnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes andfootnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not beconsidered as requirements of the specification.1.4 T

9、dhering, na joint tape manufacturedto adhere directly to the substrate.3.2.3.1 DiscussionTapes having this quality do not re-quire mechanical or embedment means of attachment to thesubstrate.3.2.4 paper joint tape, na strip of paper reinforcingmaterial designed to be embedded in the joint compound a

10、nd toreinforce the joint between two gypsum boards.3.2.5 skewness, nas defined in Terminology D 123.4. Physical Properties4.1 GeneralThe physical properties shall be determinedin accordance with Test Methods C 474, except as noted.4.2 Joint Compounds.4.2.1 Check CrackingNo cracks in the thinner half

11、 of thewedge and no deep fissure cracks in the thicker half of thewedge.4.2.2 PutrefactionNo putrefaction in less than 4 days.4.2.3 ShrinkageNot more than 35 % by volume.4.3 Joint TapeThe following tests are required of all jointtape:4.3.1 WidthShall be not less than 178 in. (48 mm) normore than 214

12、 in. (60 mm). The width of an individual rollshall vary not more than 6132 in. (1 mm).4.3.2 ThicknessShall be not more than 0.012 in. (0.30mm).4.3.3 Tensile StrengthShall be not less than 30 lbf/in.(5.25 N/mm) in the cross direction.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee C11

16、.4.2.1 Bond between the joint tape and the joint compoundshall be not less than 90 %.4.4.2.2 Edge Cracking shall be not more than 10 % alongthe edges of the tape specimen.4.5 The following test is required of glass-mesh joint tape:4.5.1 Skewness, when tested in accordance with TestMethod D 3882, sha

17、ll be not more than 8.75 %.5. Sampling5.1 Sampling of Joint CompoundAt least 1 %, but not lessthan one package or container shall be sampled and shall be soselected as to be representative of the shipment. The materialso obtained shall be thoroughly blended and divided. Providenot less than one 6-lb

18、 (2.75-kg) sample for the test.5.2 Sampling of Joint TapeAt least one roll for every tencases or a fraction thereof, but not more than ten rolls pershipment shall constitute a sample.6. Inspection6.1 Inspection of the joint compound and joint tape shall beagreed upon between the purchaser and the su

19、pplier as part ofthe purchase agreement.7. Rejection7.1 Rejection of joint compound and joint tape that fails toconform to requirements of this specification shall be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. The noticeof rejection shall contain a statement documenting how thejoin

20、t compound or joint tape has failed to conform to therequirements of this specification.8. Certification8.1 When specified in the purchase agreement, a producersor suppliers report shall be furnished at the time of shipmentcertifying that the product is in compliance with this specifi-cation.9. Pack

21、aging and Package Marking9.1 Joint compound and joint tape shall be marked on eachitem or package with the name, brand or trademark of themanufacturer or seller, size, and volume or net weight ofcontents.9.2 Joint compound packaged in 3-12 through 6-12 gal (U.S.liquid) (13 through 25 L) open-head pa

22、ils shall be labeled inaccordance with Specification F 1615.10.
