Scope1.1 This specification covers four grades of wrought nio-bium and niobium alloy bar, rod, and wire as follows:1.1.1 R04200-Type 1Reactor grade u
3、nalloyed niobium,1.1.2 R04210-Type 2Commercial grade unalloyedniobium,1.1.3 R04251-Type 3Reactor grade niobium alloy contain-ing 1 % zirconium, and1.1.4 R04261-Type 4Commercial grade niobium alloycontaining 1 % zirconium.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The va
4、lues given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 lot, na lot shall cons
8、ist of all material produced fromthe same ingot at one time, with the same cross section,processed with the same nominal metallurgical parameters andheat treated at the same conditions.3.1.2 bar, nmaterial less than 6 in. (152.4 mm) in widthand 0.187 in. (4.75 mm) or greater in thickness, with arect
9、angular cross section, supplied in straight lengths.3.1.3 rod, nmaterial 0.125 to 2.50 in. (3.18 to 63.50 mm)in diameter, in round, hexagonal, or octagonal cross sectionsupplied in straight lengths.3.1.4 wire, nmaterial 0.020 to 0.124 in. (0.51 to 3.15 mm)in diameter, furnished in coils or on spools
10、 or reels. Materialless than 0.020 in. (0.51 mm) in diameter is not covered by thisspecification.4. Ordering Information4.1 Orders for materials under this specification shall in-clude the following information as applicable:4.1.1 Type and grade (Section 1),4.1.2 ASTM designation and year of issue,4

Materials and Manufacture5.1 Material covered by this specification shall be madefrom ingots that conform to Specifi
17、cation B391 and that areproduced by vacuum or plasma arc melting, vacuum electron-beam melting, or a combination of these three methods.5.2 The various niobium mill products covered by thisspecification are formed with the conventional extrusion,forging, swaging, rolling, and drawing equipment norma
18、llyavailable in metal working plants.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 The niobium and niobium alloy ingots and billets forconversion to finished products covered by this specificationshall conform to the requirements for chemical composition asprescribed in Table 1.6.2 The manufacturers ingot analysis sh
19、all be consideredthe chemical analysis for products supplied under thisspecification, except for interstitials as specified in 6.3.Alternately, an analysis of a representative sample of in processor final product from the same ingot may be substituted.6.3 When requested by the purchaser at the time
20、ofpurchase, the manufacturer shall furnish a report certifying thevalues of the interstitial elements (C, O, N, H) on end product,as prescribed in Table 2 for each lot of material supplied. Endproduct interstitial samples must be taken after all thermal andchemical processing.6.4 Guide E2626 is reco
21、mmended as a guide, where appli-cable.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 The annealed materials supplied under this specificationshall conform to the requirements for mechanical properties asspecified in Table 3.8. Temper Designations8.1 Unless otherwise stated, the materials supplied underthese specific
22、ations shall be in the fully annealed condition,that is, at least 90 % recrystallized.8.2 Other temper designations, such as cold-worked temperor stress-relieved temper, can be specified as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the manufacturer at the time ofpurchase.9. Permissible Variations in Dime
23、nsions and Weight9.1 Tolerances on RoundsTolerances on niobium andniobium alloy round products covered by this specificationshall be as prescribed in Table 4.9.2 Tolerances for Square, Rectangular, or Other ShapesTolerances for forged or rolled square, rectangular, or othershapes shall be as agreed
