2、E FORMAT: OPEN DOCUMENT INTERCHANGE FORMAT ITU-T Recommendation T.415 (Previously “CCITT Recommendation“) FOREWORD IT (International Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations Specialized Agency in the field of telecommunications. The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a per

3、manent organ of the IT. Some 179 member countries, 84 telecom operating entities, 145 scientific and industrial organizations and 38 international organizations participate in IT-T which is the body which sets world telecommunications standards (Recommendations). The approval of Recommendations by t

4、he Members of IT-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Resolution No. 1 (Helsinki, 1993). In addition, the World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, approves Recommendations submitted to it and establishes the study programme for the following

5、 period. In some areas of information technology which fall within IT-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with IS0 and IEC. The text of IT-T Recommendation T.415 was approved by the WTSC (Helsinki, March 1-12, 1993). The identical text is also published as ISO/I

6、EC International Standard 8613-5. NOTES 1 As a consequence of a reform process within the Intemational Telecommunication Union (ITU), the CC ceased to exists as of 28 February 1993. In its place, the IT Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) was created as of 1 March 1993. Similary, in thi

7、s reform process, the CCIR and the IFRB have been replaced by the Radiocommunication Sector. In order not to delay publication of this Recommendation, no change has been made in the text to references containing the acronyms “CCITT, CCIR or IFREV or their associated entities such as Plenary Assembly

25、nd ISOAEC Joint Technical Committee 1. At present, IT-T Rec. T.410 Series I ISOAEC 8613 consists of: - Introduction and general principles; - Document structures; - Document profile; - Open document interchange format; - Character content architectures; - Raster graphics content architectures; - Geo

26、metric graphics content architectures; - Formai specification of the Open Document Architecture (FODA). (The formal specification is applicable to ISOIEC 8613 only.) Further Recommendations I International Standards may be added to this set of Recommendations I International StandardS. Development o

27、f this set of Recommendations I International Standards was originally in parallel with the ECMA-101 standard: Open Document Architecture. This set of Recommendations I International Standards is a new edition of the CC T.410 Series of Recommendations (1988) and IS0 8613:1989. Significant technical

28、changes are the inclusion of the following amendments as agreed by CCl“ and ISO/IEC: - Alternative Representation; - - Colour; - Conformance Testing annex; - Annex on use of MHSMOTIS; Document Application Profile Proforma and Notation; - security; - Streams; - Styles; - Tiled Raster Graphics. 32、e The purpose of ITU-T Rec. T.410 Series I ISO/IEC 8613 is to facilitate the interchange of documents. In the context of these Recommendations I International Standards, documents are considered to be items such as memoranda, letters, invoices, forms and reports, which may include pictures and tabul

33、ar material. The content elements used within the documents may include graphic characters, raster graphics elements and geometric graphics elements, all potentially within one document. NOTE - These Recommendations I International Standards are designed to allow for extensions. including hypermedia

34、 features, spreadsheets and additional types of content such as audio and video. In addition to the content types defined in these Recommendations I Intemational Standards, ODA also provides for arbitrary content types to be included in documents. These Recommendations I International Standards appl

35、y to the interchange of documents by means of data communications or the exchange of storage media. These Recommendations I International Standards provide for the interchange of documents for either or both of the following purposes: - - to allow presentation as intended by the originator; to allow

36、 processing, such as editing and reformatting. The composition of a document in interchange can take several forms: formatted form, allowing presentation of the document; processable form, allowing processing of the document; formatted processable form, allowing both presentation and processing of t

37、he document. - - - These Recommendations I International Standards also provide for the interchange of ODA information structures used for the processing of interchanged documents. This Recommendation I International Standard defines - the format of the data stream used to interchange documents stru

38、ctured in accordance with ITU-T Rec. T.412 I ISO/IEC 8613-2; the representation of the constituents which may appear in an interchanged document. This IT-T Recommendation I Intemational Standard does not specify the coded representation of content elements. Data formats for presentation attributes a

39、nd coding attributes are defined in other Recommendations I International - NOTES 1 2 Standards in ITU-T Rec.
