Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 These tables include (1) a series of conversion factorsrequired to convert the number o
3、f a yarn measured in a specificsystem to the equivalent number measured in various othersystems (see Table 1), and (2) specific equivalent numbers foryarns measured in various systems (see Table 2).1.2 The content is basically consistent with recommenda-tions of the International Organization for St
4、andardization(ISO) Standard 2947.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of

9、tors for Equivalent Yarn Numbers4.1 Calculate any equivalent value using the appropriatefactor listed in Table 1.5. Use of Previously Calculated Equivalent YarnNumbers5.1 For a specific number in a stated system, read theequivalent in the various other systems from Table 2.5.2 With a few exceptions,
10、 fractional traditional indirectcounts have been omitted from Table 2; the rounded tex systemvalues for most fractional traditional indirect counts can beobtained by interpolation.6. Implementation of the Tex Yarn Numbering System6.1 In Table 2, to encourage the implementation of the texsystem in th
11、e United States, rounded tex values were chosen toaccommodate as many yarn numbers as possible for thetraditional yarn numbering systems without encroaching onestablished tolerances. In addition to the rounded tex systemvalues, the decitex (dtex) equivalents have been includedbecause they can be use
12、d throughout most of the count rangewithout employing decimal fractions. The choice of unit isentirely a matter to be determined by each sector of the trade;decitex, for example, is particularly suitable for fine yarns(whether spun or filament) and tex for medium and coarseyarns.1These tables are un

19、sing the NationalInstitute of Standards and Technology values in the NISTCircular M121, January, 1936. Based on current values, whencalculating yards per pound for a specified denier, the table willunderstate the value by 12 yd out of 4.5 million yd or 11 m outof 4.1 million m. When calculating yard
20、s per pound for aspecified tex value, the table will understate the value by 5 ydout of 0.5 million yd or 4.6 m out of 0.46 million m.
