Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 exterior finishthe shingle, lap, or panel siding ma-terial, masonry veneer, or stucco applied over the sheathing asa protective, decorative exteri

8、in DefinitionsD 1554 and Specification C 208. It is 4 ft (1.22 m) wide withsquare-cut edges on all sides and12 in. (12.7 mm) in thickness.3.1.5 structural wall sheathingdescribed in DefinitionsD 1554 and Specification C 208. When installed in accordancewith Section 7, it is considered a structural s
9、heathing providingadequate racking resistance. It is 4 ft (1.22 m) wide and12 in.(12.7 mm) or2532 in. (19.8 mm) in thickness with square-cutedges on all sides.3.1.6 vertical applicationsheathing applied with the longedges parallel to the studs.4. Significance and Use4.1 This standard provides recomm
10、endations for the instal-lation in a safe and effective manner. Actual conditions mayvary greatly, and additional care should be taken to ensure asafe and effective installation.4.2 This standard presents requirements that are general innature and considered practical. They are not intended asspecif
11、ic recommendations. The user should consult the manu-facturer for recommended application methods and procedures.4.3 This standard does not address the applicability ofregulatory limitations. This is the responsibility of the user.5. Materials5.1 Sheathing shall conform to ANSI/AHA A194.1 andSpecifi
12、cation C 208.5.2 Nails for application of sheathing to wood framing shallconform to Federal Specification FF-N-105-B, including In-terim Amendment 4, and shall be in accordance with Table 1.5.3 Staples for application of12-in. and2532-in. sheathingto wood framing shall meet the following requirement

18、 shall be of such size and quality asto be structurally adequate for the type of building beingconstructed.5.5.1 Stud spacing shall be 16 in. (0.41 m) or 24 in. (0.61 m)on center depending on code requirements.6. Storage6.1 Sheathing shall be stored flat, and supported and pro-tected from direct con
19、tact with the ground. Sheathing shall notbe stored in a heated warehouse and shall be allowed to cometo equilibrium at job site conditions prior to application.Sheathing should be protected from rain prior to installation.7. Application (see Table 2)7.1 Vertical Application (see Fig. 1)Apply 4-ft (1
20、.22-m)wide by12-in. (12.7-mm) or by2532-in. (19.8-mm) sheathingvertically with long edges parallel to the vertical studs. Centerall joints over the framing members with a18-in. (3.18-mm)gap between edges. Leave a18-in. gap at doors, windows, andhorizontal joints. Sheathing should extend from sill to
