Scope*1.1 This specification covers two general classes, WP andCR, of wrought ferritic, ferritic

3、/austenitic, and martensiticstainless steel fittings of seamless and welded constructioncovered by the latest revision of Specification A960/A960M.Fittings differing from these standards may be furnished inaccordance with Supplementary Requirement S58 of Specifi-cation A960/A960M.1.1.1 Class WP fitt

4、ings are subdivided into four subclasses:Classes WP-S, WP-W, WP-WX, and WP-WU. They aremanufactured to the requirements of Specification A960/A960M, and they shall have pressure ratings compatible with13.2. Class WP-S fittings are those manufactured from seam-less product by a seamless method of man

5、ufacture (markedwith class symbol WP-S); Class WP-W fittings are those whichcontain welds where the fitting fabrication or constructionwelds have been radiographed (marked with class symbolWP-W); and Class WP-WX fittings are those which containwelds where all welds have been radiographed (marked wit

6、hclass symbol WP-WX); and Class WP-WU fittings are thosewhich contain welds where all welds have been ultrasonicallytested (marked with class symbol WP-WU).1.1.2 Class CR fittings are those manufactured to therequirements of MSS SP-43, and they shall have pressureratings compatible with 13.3.1.2 Thi

7、s specification does not apply to cast fittings.1.3 Optional supplementary requirements are provided.When desired, one or more of these may be specified in theorder.1.4 This specification is expressed in both inch-pound unitsand in SI units. However, unless the order specifies theapplicable “M” spec

8、ification designation SI units, the mate-rial shall be furnished to inch-pound units.1.5 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Common Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Material fu

18、rnished to this specification shall conform tothe requirements of Specification A960/A960M including anysupplementary requirements that are indicated in the purchaseorder. Failure to comply with the common requirements ofSpecification A960/A960M constitutes nonconformance withthis specification. In

19、case of conflict between this specificationand Specification A960/A960M, this specification shall pre-vail.3.2 Specification A960/A960M identifies the ordering infor-mation that should be complied with when purchasing materialto this specification.4. Materials4.1 The material for fittings shall cons

20、ist of forgings, bars,plates, or seamless or welded tubular products that conform tothe chemical requirements in Table 1.4.2 The steel shall be melted by one of the followingprocesses:4.2.1 Electric furnace (with separate degassing and refiningoptional),4.2.2 Vacuum furnace, or4.2.3 Electric furnace

21、 followed by vacuum or electroslag-consumable remelting.4.3 If secondary melting is employed, the heat shall bedefined as all ingots remelted from a primary heat.5. Manufacture5.1 FormingForging or shaping operations may be per-formed by hammering, pressing, piercing, extruding, upsetting,rolling, b

22、ending, fusion welding, machining or by combinationof two or more of these operations. The forming procedureshall be so applied that it will not produce surface discontinui-ties deeper than 5 % of the specified nominal thickness of thefitting.5.2 All classes of fittings shall be heat treated in acco

23、rdancewith Section 6.5.3 Fittings ordered as Class WP-S shall be of seamlessconstruction and shall meet all requirements of SpecificationA960/A960M.5.4 Fittings ordered as Class WP-W shall meet the require-ments of Specification A960/A960M and (1) shall have allwelds made by the fitting manufacturer

24、 and all pipe weldsmade with the addition of filler metal radiographically exam-ined throughout the entire length in accordance with ParagraphUW-51 of Section VIII, Division 1, of the ASME Boiler andPressure Vessel Code; and (2) shall not require radiography ofthe starting pipe weld if the pipe was

25、welded without theaddition of filler metal. In place of radiographic examination,welds made by the fitting manufacturer may be ultrasonicallyexamined in accordance with the code requirements stated in5.6.5.5 Fittings ordered as Class WP-WX shall meet the re-quirements of Specification A960/A960M and

26、 shall have allwelds, whether made by the fitting manufacturer or the startingmaterial manufacturer, radiographically examined throughouttheir entire length in accordance with Paragraph UW-51 ofSection VIII, Division I of the ASME Boiler and PressureVessel Code. The radiography of welds for this cla

27、ss of fittingscan be done either prior to or after forming at the option of themanufacturer.5.6 Fittings ordered as Class WP-WU shall meet the re-quirements of Specification A960/A960M and shall have allwelds, whether made by the fitting manufacturer or the startingmaterial manufacturer, ultrasonica

28、lly examined throughouttheir entire length in accordance with Appendix 12 of SectionVIII, Division 1 of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.5.7 The radiography or ultrasonic examination for this classof fittings may be done at the option of the manufacturer, eitherprior to or after forming.5.8 Pers

29、onnel performing NDE examinations shall be quali-fied in accordance with SNT-TC-1A.5.9 Fittings covered in Specification A960/A960M andordered as CR shall meet the requirements of SpecificationA960/A960M and do not require nondestructive examination.5.10 All classes of fittings shall have the welder

30、s, weldingoperators, and welding procedures qualified under the provi-sions of Section IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure VesselCode except that starting pipe welds made without the additionof filler metal do not require such qualification.5.11 All joints welded with filler metal shall be finished i

31、naccordance with the requirements of Paragraph UW-35 (a) ofSection VIII, Division 1, of the ASME Boiler and PressureVessel Code.5.12 Fittings machined from bar shall be restricted to NPS 4or smaller.5.12.1 All caps machined from bar shall be examined byliquid penetrant in accordance with Practice E1

32、65.5.13 Weld buildup is permitted to dimensionally correctunfilled areas produced during cold forming of stub ends.Radiographic examination of the weld buildup shall not berequired provided that all of the following steps are adhered to:5.13.1 The weld procedure and welders or welding opera-tors mee

35、e section provided the weldingsatisfies the requirements of 5.10 for qualifications and Section6 for post weld heat treatment.5.14.1 Class WP-WRadiographic inspection of the weld isrequired (see 5.4).5.14.2 Class WP-WXRadiographic inspection of all weldsis required (see 5.5).5.14.3 Class WP-WUUltras

36、onic inspection of all welds isrequired (see 5.6).5.14.4 Class CRNondestructive examination is not re-quired (see 5.9).5.15 Stub ends may be produced with the entire lap addedby the welding of a ring, made from plate or bar of the samealloy grade and composition, to the outside of a straight section

Chemical Composition7.1

49、 The chemical composition of each cast or heat shall bedetermined and shall conform to the requirements of thechemical composition for the respective grades of materialslisted in Table 1. Methods and practices relating to chemicalanalyses required by this specification shall be in accordancewith Methods, Practices, and Definitions A751. Product analy-sis tolerances in accordance with Specification A960/A960Mare applicable.7.2 Except as listed below, in fittings of weldedconstruction, the composi
