ITU-T G.9973 (08/2017) i Recommendation ITU-T G.9973 Protocol for identifying home network topology Summary Based on Recommendation ITU-T G.9971, Recommendation ITU-T G.9973 specifies the configuration management protocol. This protocol is used to manage devices in
7、 the Internet protocol (IP) home network for the purpose of showing users the layer 2 home network topology. Recommendation ITU-T G.9973 also enables fault management utilizing device information that the local agent (LA) of the device manages. They are described in TTC JJ-300.00. History Edition Re

10、pecialized agency in the field of telecommunications, information and communication technologies (ICTs). The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of ITU. ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on th
11、em with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T study groups which, in turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of ITU-
12、T Recommendations is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSA Resolution 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with ISO and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used
13、 for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency. Compliance with this Recommendation is voluntary. However, the Recommendation may contain certain mandatory provisions (to ensure, e.g., interoperability or applicability) and compliance with the
14、Recommendation is achieved when all of these mandatory provisions are met. The words “shall“ or some other obligatory language such as “must“ and the negative equivalents are used to express requirements. The use of such words does not suggest that compliance with the Recommendation is required of a
15、ny party. ITU-T G.9973 (08/2017) 1 Recommendation ITU-T G.9973 Protocol for identifying home network topology 1 Scope Various kinds of Internet protocol (IP) terminal devices, such as personal computers (PCs), digital televisions (TVs), gaming devices, and portable music devices, have recently b
22、een, and continue to be, connected to the IP home network. Furthermore, their number is increasing. The kinds of transmission media (power line communication (PLC), wireless, unshielded twisted pair (UTP), etc.) used to connect each IP terminal are also becoming more varied. Under such circumstances
23、, most users are unable to troubleshoot the IP home network by themselves, without the availability of appropriate network services. It is desired to introduce a simple and easy IP home network management that can localize the fault in each device and network and help recover from trouble. ITU-T G.9
24、971 describes three kinds of management requirements for the IP home network: configuration management; fault management; and performance management. Based on ITU-T G.9971, this Recommendation specifies the configuration management protocol that is described in TTC JJ-300.00. This protocol is used t
