SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This document covers coat fron

When specified (see 6.21, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Samples. Samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.4)

It is encouraged that recycled material be used when practical as long as it meets the requirements of this specification. * 3.3.1 Basic material. The materials for coat fronts

25、shall be cotton warp and spun hair-wool filling interlining cloth conforming to MIL-C-297 in the types and classes indicated below. For types IV and VI1 coat fronts, the material shall conform to class 1 (natural). option for type IV coat front, the material shall conform to class 2 (dyed For all ot

The material for the shoulder pieces (types IV, VI, VII, XIV, XVII, XVIII and XXII), chest pieces and reinforcement piece for top front corners (type XI shall be 2-ply cotton warp and natural horsehair filling cloth, undyed, having not less than 60 ends

28、 and 40 picks per inch, weighing not less than 4.5 ounces per square yard, and containing no sizing (see 4.4.1.1). An alternate for types VI, XVIII, XIX, and XXI shoulder piece may include fabric having warp yarns made from 100 percent cotton, from 100 percent polyester, from any combination of poly

29、ester and cotton, or from 45 to 100 percent polyester with the remaining percentage rayon. The filling yarns of the alternate fabric shall be made from 100 percent nylon mono-filament. The fabric shall contain not less than 50 ends and 42 picks per inch, and shall weigh not less than 5.6 ounces per

30、square yard (see 4.4.1.1). The stiffness of the nylon filling shall be 0.060 to 0.14 load pound (see 4.4.1.1). The horsehair shall meet current Quarantine Laws and pertinent regulations of the U.S. Department of Agriculture as set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations (see 2.1.2). 5 Licensed by I

The material for the components listed in table I shall be polyester and cotton cloth undyed or in colors as indicated, conforming to class 1 of MIL-C-43718. TABLE I. Polyester a

The padding for chest (typ

34、classification 11A2 of C-F-206. 3.3.4.2 Flannel. The flannel shall be unbleached, double-napped, conforming to type II, class 1 of CCC-C-458. 3.3.5 Labels. Each coat front shall have an identification label (applicable only when coat fronts are purchaseddirectly by the Government) and a size label c

The identification label shall be applied directly above the size label and shall conform to type IV, class 1, except that the characters of the inscription shall be not less than l

The size label shall be applied to the bottom end of each left and right front and shall conform to type IV, class 2, except that the O characters of the inscriptio

37、n shall be not less than 3/8 inch or more than 5/8 inch in height. followed by S for short, R for regular and L for long. In addition, each coat front shall be labeled to indicate the left front and the right front by preceding the size designation with the letters LT for left and RT for right as sh

38、own in the following examples: The size label shall include the numerical designation LT 38R RT 38R 3.3.6 Thread. The thread for seaming and stitching the fronts shall be cotton, soft finish, type IA1 or type IA2, shade White AH, C.A. 66050, ticket No. 50 or 70, 2-ply, conforming to V-T-276. 3.4 Pat

The coat fronts shall conform to the sizes specified in the applicable end item specification or procurement document and shall be fabricated in accordance with the standard patterns applicable thereto. 3.4.3 Coat fronts purchased by an end item manufacturer. When coat fronts are purchased by an end item manufacturer as a component of an end item, standard patterns of the coat fronts will be furnished by the Government (see 6.2). working patterns.
