Enclosures for electrical equipment not built into or forming part of a machine, -shall either be constructed in accordance with Enclosure V in the latest issue of GSA Specification C22.2 No. 94, Special Purp
17、ose Enclosures, or shall conform to the following: (a) Covers shall be (i) hinged, or otherwise arranged, so that they cannot be readily removed, (ii) gasketted, or otherwise constructed to en- sure a close fit, and (iii) held closed by captive bolts, spring latches, or other secure means; NOTE: In
18、the case of push-button stations, limit switches, and similar small control devices, (i) and (iii) are not required. (b) Mounting holes for enclosures shall be external to the enclosures; (c) Mounting holes for equipment shall not pass through the enclosure walls unless filled with riveted or welded
19、 studs; (d) No openings shall be provided in the enclosures due to forming or other operations. This will not preclude close fitting flanges, either riveted or spot welded; (e) No multiple conduit knockouts shall be provithd in enclosures, and if single conduit knockouts arc 10 CSA SPECIFICAT0N C22.
20、2 No. 105 provided, they shall be constructed so that there is no visible opening with the knockout in place. Nom: It is recommended that either threaded conduit openings be prozided or that holes for conduit be cut to suit individual installations. (f) Thickness of material for enclosures shall be
21、as required by the Specifications of this Code cover- ing the particular devices, except that if the con- trols for two or more motors are placed in a single enclosure, the requirements of Clause 12 (a) and (b) shall apply. 12. Enclosures for electrical equipment for use under the provisions of Clau
22、se 20(b), which are built into or form part of a machrne base or frame, shall comply with the following: (a) The wall thickness shall be not less than No. 14 U.S. sheet-metal gauge if of sheet steel, not less than 3/32 inch if of malleable iron, or not less than Y8 inch if of other cast metal; (b) C
23、overplates shall not he thinner than specified for walls; (c) If the enclosures are restricted in volume to the approximate size of the electrical equipment con- tained and, if equipment for the control of more than one motor is grouped under a single set of overcurrent devices, enclosures shall hav
24、e clear openings of at least 2 square inches vented to other compartments within the machines. The compartments shall have a volume equal to at least one-half of the volume of the enclosures, and shall be free from the accumulation of any inflammable materials. Spacings 13.
