Scope1.1 This specification covers a rigid wall, two-side expand-abl
3、e shelter constructed of aluminum-faced, nonmetallic hon-eycomb sandwich panels and meeting the International Orga-nization for Standardization (ISO) cargo containerspecification in the transport mode. Nominal dimensions whenclosed (container mode) are: height 8 ft, width 8 ft, and length20 ft (2.4
4、by 2.4 by 6.1 m). Approximate dimensions whenexpanded (shelter mode) are: height 8 ft, width 22 ft, andlength 20 ft (2.4 by 6.7 by 6.1 m).1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. General Requirements3.1 Alternate ComponentsWhen this specification or thereferenced drawings specify use of a specific component “
16、orequal,” the contractor may substitute a component equal to thespecified component provided that the contractor complieswith the following requirements. Prior to manufacture of thefirst article or, if none is required, prior to commencingproduction, the contractor shall submit for the purchasersapp
17、roval, a list identifying each proposed “or equal” compo-nent together with proof that each listed component is func-tionally equal to the specified component and is compatiblewith the end item covered by this specification. The purchaser,at his/her option, may require a physical sample of any “oreq
18、ual” component. Approval of the submitted listing andsupporting data authorizes the commencement of fabrication ofthe first article or of production, as applicable, but does notrelieve the contractor of the responsibility that the “or equal”components perform in accordance with specified requirement
19、swhen incorporated into the end item.3.2 Materials and ComponentsMaterials and componentsshall conform to the documents listed in Section 2 and asspecified herein. Any change to the proposed materials orprocesses must be approved by the purchaser. It is encouragedthat recycled material be used when
20、practical as long as itmeets the requirements of this specification.3.3 WorkmanshipThe shelter, including all parts and ac-cessories, shall be constructed and finished in a workmanlikemanner with particular attention given to removal of burrs andsharp edges, accuracy of dimensions, thoroughness of s
21、older-ing, welding, painting, alignment of parts and assemblies, andthe tightness of screws, bolts, and so forth. Gaskets shall not betorn or split and shall be free of finish. Cloth components shallbe clean and free of holes, cuts, or tears.All latches utilized forerection and closing of the shelte
22、r shall be properly adjustedbefore the shelter is prepared for delivery to the purchaser.3.4 RivetingRiveting joints shall be tight. The joined partsshall be undamaged, and the rivet heads shall be properlyseated and tight against the bearing surfaces. All the rivets,except those used in panel bondi
23、ng, shall be dipped inpolysulfide sealant just prior to insertion; however, a dab ofpolysulfide sealant shall be applied to the head of each rivet.3.5 CleaningAfter fabrication, parts shall be cleaned inaccordance with the drawings.3.6 WeldingWelded joints shall be such that grinding ofthe finished
24、weld shall not be a requirement, except whenspecified on the drawing. Spot, stitch, and seam welds shall beas indicated on the drawings.All surfaces to be welded shall becleaned and free from scale, paint, grease, and other foreignmaterials.
