Scope*1.1 This specification covers glacial (99.8 %) acetic acid foruse in paint, varnish, lacquer, and related products.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be rega

The values given in parentheses are for informationonly.1.3 The following applies to all specified limits in thisstandard; for purposes of determining conformance with thisstandard, an observed value or a calculated value shall berounded off “to the nearest unit” in the last rig

Test Methods5.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with the following ASTM testmethods:5.1.1 PurityTest Methods E 302 estimates the purity fromthe freezing point.5.1.2 Freezing PointTest Methods E 302.5.
10、1.3 ColorTest Methods E 302.5.1.4 WaterTest Methods E 302.5.1.5 IronTest Method E 394, using a 20-mL specimendiluted to 80 mL with water.5.1.5.1 ReportReport the iron content to the nearest 0.01ppm (mg/kg). Duplicates that agree within 0.07 ppm absoluteare acceptable for averaging (95 % confidence l
11、evel).5.1.5.2 Precision4The precision statements are basedupon an interlaboratory study in which one operator in eightdifferent laboratories analyzed two samples of acetic acid induplicate on two different days. The results were treated inaccordance with Practice E 180. The within-laboratory coeffi-
12、cient of variation was 3.05 % with 14 df and the between-laboratory coefficient of variation was 6.00 % with 6 df.
