Scope1.1 This specification covers asphaltic primer suitable foruse with asphalt in roofing, dampproofing, and waterproofingbelow or above ground level, for application to concrete,masonry, metal, and asphalt surfaces.1.2 The value

4、s stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.

Classification3.1 Type I is characterized as an

7、 Asphalt Primer with agenerally higher solvent-to-asphalt ratio.3.2 Type II is characterized as an Asphalt Primer with alesser solvent-to-asphalt ratio than Type I.4. Physical Requirements4.1 The primer shall conform to the following requirements:Water, Vol %, max, Type I and Type II 0.5Saybolt Furo

8、l viscosity at 25C 77F, Type I 25 to 125 sSaybolt Furol viscosity at 25C 77F, Type II 120 to 500 sDistillation, volume % of the primer:Up to 225C 437F, Type I not less than 35Up to 360C 680F, Type I not more than 65Up to 225C 437F, Type II not less than 30Up to 360C 680F, Type II not more than 604.2

9、 The residue obtained from the distillation up to 360C680F shall conform to the following requirements:Penetration at 25C 77F, 100 g, 5 s 20 to 50Matter soluble in trichloroethylene not less than 99 %5. Sampling5.1 From each shipment or fraction thereof representingprimer of the same kind, select a

10、number of packages atrandom equivalent to the cube root of the total number ofpackages in the lot. If the cube root as calculated proves to bea fractional number, it shall be expressed as the next higherwhole number. For convenience, the following table is given,showing the number of samples to be s

This sample shall be considered as representative of theshipment and shall be transmitted to the laboratory forexamination, bearing a suitable tag or other means of identifi-cation.6. Rejection and Resubmittal7.1 Failure to conform to any of the requirements prescribedin this specification may constitute grounds for rejection. In thecase of rejection, the supplier shall have the right to reinspectthe rejected mate

19、rial and resubmit the lot after removal of thosepackages not conforming to the requirements.8. Packaging and Package Marking8.1 All products shall be packaged and labeled in accor-dance with applicable regulations.8.2 Each package shall indicate the applicable ASTM des-ignation.9.
