This specif Fcat ion covers a full-tracked, unarmored, non-amphibious, diesel powered vehicle. This vehicle consists of a full-tracked car

4、go carrier modified for use as a cross country carrier for shelter-housed electronic warfare (EW) systems. 2. 13、btained fron the contracting activity or as directed by the contracting officer.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall furnish vehicles which shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.4). First article inspection samples, properly

14、marked with identifying information shall be representative of the unit to be furnished to the Government. All subsequent vehicles delivered to the Government shall conform to these samples in all of their pertinent physical and performance attributes. 3.2 Materials. Materials shall be as specified

15、herein and in referenced specifications, standards, and drawings. Material shall be free from defects which adversely affect performance or serviceability of the finished product (see 4.8.1 and 6.7). 3.2.1 Ozone resistance. When rubber components are required to be ozone resistant, the degree of res

16、istance shall be as specified in applicable specifications or drawings (see 4.8.1). 3.3 Design and construction. Vehicles, components, subassemblies and assemblies shall be manufactured and assembled into a complete vehicle in accordance with the following drawings, as applicable, specifications and

17、 documents. Vehicles shall meet all requirements specified herein and be of a quality that assures a vehicle free from defects that would compromise, limit, or reduce its performance (see 4.8.1). Contractors inspection records shall specifically list all QPL items by number and date of the QPL, name o

19、f supplier and part or drawing number(s). The vehicle shall be subjected to a break-in run. The break-in run will include preliminary checks of

21、 suspension, controls, power pack, and provide wear-in for final adjustments. A combat-loaded condition is not required. be simulated, Prior to the break-in run will involve the following activities and conditions (see 4.8.1): When specified (see 6.2), the break-in run shall Distance - miles 5 5 10

Prior to the break-in run, except for equipment and component installations and servicing performed by the contractor as a final processing of the vehicle for acceptance, the vehicle shall be completely assembled and all adjustments completed. The vehicle, including all applicable

23、 components requiring lubrication, shall be lubricated in accordance with production lubrication chart. The vehicle shall be serviced with fuel conforming to applicable seasonal grades of W-F-800. b. Oil pressure and temperature. Prior to the start of the break-in run, the engine shall be operated a

24、t 600 to 800 revolutions per minute (rpm) until lubricating oil is at operating pressure and temperature, If at any time during break-in run the engine has been stopped for at least 15 minutes, the engine shall again be operated, as above, before continuing break-in runc Proper oil pressure and temp

25、erature shall be maintained in the engine, transmission, transfer unit speed increaser, and controlled differential during operation, 3.3,2.1 Break-in procedure. Each vehicle shall be operated for distances specified in table I, on smooth, level, hard-surfaced roads. The vehicle shall be operated ov

When specified (see 6.2), a simulated bre

28、ak-in run (see table II) maybe performed on the Army Skid Type Dynamometer in lieu of the run specified in 3.3.2. t. The final 10 miles of the total break-in run shall be on smooth, level, hard-surfaced roads, except for the undulating portion of the road conforming to figure 1. The undulating porti

29、on of the test shall be accomplished twice in each direction, at speeds between 5 and 10 mph during division “e“ and between 11 and 14.5 mph during division “f“ (see table II). After completion of division “b“ and “d“, the vehicle shall be operated in reverse as specified in 3.3.2.2 (see 4.8.1). Div

After completion of the break-in run, there shall be no indication of damaged components, maladjustment or loss of original

31、 adjustment that may cause faulty vehicle operation subsequent to Government acceptance. The differential oil filter element shall be removed cleaned and reinstalled upon completion of the break-in run (see 4.8.1). 3.3.3 Special kits. When specified (see 6.2), special kits shall be provided. Special

32、 kits when installed, shall fit properly without interference or misalinement and meet applicable environmental and performance requirements specified herein (see 4.8.1). 3.3.3.1 Cab personnel heater kit (primary). When installed, the (primary) cab personnel heater kit shall provide heat for personn

33、el and windshield defrosting in ambient temperatures down to minus 25 degrees Fahrenheit (OF) (see 4.8.1). 3.3.3.2 Cab personnel heater kit (secondary). When iristalled the (secondary) cab personnel heater kit shall supplement the (primary) cab personnel heater and insure heat for personnel and wind

34、shield defrosting during operations in ambient temperatures from minus 25F to minus 65F. The insulated hard top cab cover shall resist the entrance of water, dust and snow (see 4.8.1). 3.3.3.3 Engine coolant heater kit. When installed, the engine coolant heater kit shall assure engine starting and o

35、peration in ambient air temperatures from minus 25F to minus 65F. The engine coolant heater shall be capable of operating for a minimum of 12 hours on battery power alone without discharging the battery to a level that would preclude satisfactory starting of the engine (see 4.8.1). 5 Provided by IHS

The air brakes shall be installed and shall be compatible in operation with trailers equipped with air brakes. apportioned to first article vehicles equipped with

37、 air brakes shall include 200 miles with a towed load of approximately 12 O00 pounds (lb) in the hard-surfaced road mode and in the cross country mode (see 3.5.1 and 4.8.1). Test mileage 3.4 Physical characteristics. 3.4.1 Bearing seals. The bearing seals,shall prevent the entrance of foreign matter

38、 into the bearings exposed to contamination during fording, or operating in mud, sand or snow. Bearing seals shall restrict the leaking of lubricants from the bearings (see 4.8.3.1). 3.42 Doors, windows and covers. All doors, windows and covers shall conform to applicable drawings. When installed, t

39、hey shall fit and be water, dust and snow resistant, and function without interference or misalinement (see 4.8.3.2). 3.4.3 Enginec The engine shall conform to MIL-E-62140 and shall operate throughout all speed ranges without evidence of cooling system, lubricant, or fuel leakage (see 4.8.3.3). 3.4.

40、3.1 Engine air induction system. The air induction system, as installed, shall prevent entrance of foreign matter in conformance with applicable drawings (see 4.8.3.3.1). 3*4.4 Exhaust systems. The engine exhaust system, as installed, and the personnel heater exhaust system, when installed, shall no

41、t permit concentration of toxic fumes in the driver and crew compartments to exceed 50 parts per million (pprn) for carbon monoxide (CO) or 5 ppm for oxides of nitrogen (NO) (see 4.8.3.4). 3.4.5 Fuel system, grades and slopes. The fuel system shall maintain a continuous supply of fuel to the engine

42、when ascending and descending 60 percent grades in forward and reverse gear, and when the vehicle is being operated left side or right side up on 30 percent side slopes (see 4.8,3.5). 3.4.5.1 Fuel tank. Provision shall be made to assure the internal cleanliness of the fuel tank prior to initial fuel

43、ing of the vehicle. The euel tank shall be capabie of receiving 50 gallons of fuel per minute (see 4.8.3e5.1). 3.4.5.2 Fuel lines. The fuel lines and connections shall be internally clean prior to initial fueling and servicing of the vehicle. connections, and tanks shall be free of leaks (see 4.8.3.

The transmission shall conform to MIL-T-62099. When installed in the vehicle, the transmission, transfer gearcase, speed increaser,

46、 and controlled differential shall operate throughout all gear ranges without evidence of leakage (see 4.8.3.6). 3.4.7 Electrical system. 3.4.7.1 EW generator governor. After not less than 20 minutes of operation with the headlights on the regulator control shall be observed. The EW generator govern

47、or shall be operated at 4000 + 100 rpm with an output of 50 + 5 amperes (A), and the voltage regulator rhestat adjusted to provide 28 volts (V) direct current (dc) at the vehicle batteries. vehicle batteries shall not increase more than 0.5 V dc when the load Is removed (see 4.8.3.7.1). 48、he 3.4.7.1.1 EW generator governor frequency variation. The EW generator governor system, at any constant load between no-load and full-load, shall maintain the EW generator unit frequency constant within 2 1 hertz (Hz). There shall be no sustained periodic frequency oscillations, even within the -

49、+ 1 Hz variation at constant load (see 4.8.3.7.1). 3.4.7.1.2 EW generator governor frequency drift. The EW generator governor system shall not permit the EW generator unit frequency to change more than 3 Hz for an ambient temperature change of 60“F, within the specified temperature range, at any constant load condition from no-load to full-load. The EW governor system shall not permit the frequency to change more than 3 Hz during warm-up and stabilizat
