From 1 January 1997, all IEC publications have the number 60000 added to the old number. For instance, IEC27-1 has been renumbered as IEC60027-1. For a period of time during the change over

16、r Standardization) and IEC (theInternational Electrotechnical Commission) form the specialized system for worldwide standardization. National bodies that are members of ISO or IEC participate in the development of International Standards through technical committees established by the respective org
17、anization to deal with particular fields of technical activity. ISO and IEC technical committees collaborate in fields of mutual interest. Other international organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO and IEC, also take part in the work. In the field of information techno
18、logy, ISO and IEC have established a joint technical committee, ISO/IECJTC1. Draft International Standards adopted by the joint technical committee are circulated to national bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75% of the national bodies casting
19、a vote. International Standard ISO/IEC14699 was prepared by Joint Technical Committee ISO/IECJTC1, Information technology, Subcommittee SC6, Telecommunications and information exchange between systems, in collaboration with ITU-T. The identical text is published as ITU-T RecommendationX.634. Annex A
20、 forms an integral part of this International Standard. Annex B is for information only.BSISO/IEC14699:1997 BSI05-1999 1 Introduction This Recommendation|International Standard is one of a set of Recommendations|International Standards produced to facilitate the interconnection of information proces
21、sing systems. This set of Recommendations|International Standards covers the services and protocols required to achieve such interconnection. The Transport Fast Byte Protocol Recommendation|International Standard is positioned with respect to other related Recommendations|International Standards by
22、the layers defined in the Reference Model for Open Systems Interconnection (seeITU-TRec.X.200|ISO/IEC7498-1). It is most closely related to, and lies within the field of application of, the Transport Service definition (seeITU-TRec.X.214|ISO/IEC8072). It also uses and makes reference to the Network
23、Service definition (seeITU-TRec.X.213|ISO/IEC8348), whose provisions it assumes in order to accomplish Transport Fast Bytes aims. The interrelationship of these Recommendations|International Standards is illustrated inFigure Intro. 1 This Recommendation|International Standard specifies a common enco
24、ding and protocol procedures. It is intended that the Transport Fast Byte Protocol should be simple and cater for a specific range of Network Service qualities possible.
