29、buches Reinhaltung der Luftzusammengefasst. EinleitungPeroxiacetylnitrat (PAN), chemische FormelCH3C(O)OONO2, ist der Trivialname fr Peroxiethan-sure-Salpetersureanhydrid. Die nach der IUPAC-Nomenklatur richtige Bezeichnung dieser Substanzwird in der Literatur jedoch sehr selten verwendet.Daher wird

30、 auch in dieser Richtlinie stets der Trivial-name benutzt. PAN entsteht in der Atmosphre beider photochemischen Oxidation von Nichtmethan-Kohlenwasserstoffen (NMKW) in Gegenwart vonStickstoffdioxid (NO2). Weil dies die einzige Quellefr PAN ist, stellt es im Prinzip einen besseren Indi-kator fr photo

31、chemische Luftverschmutzung dar alsOzon (O3), das unter anderem auch durch Transportaus der Stratosphre in die Troposphre gelangt. Inder Umgebung von Ballungszentren mit starken an-thropogenen Stickoxid- und NMKW-Quellen (Stra-enverkehr, Industrie) werden im Sommer PAN-Volu-menkonzentrationen im ppb

32、-Bereich gemessen 1; 2.Diese Konzentrationen wirken stark Augen reizendund fr Pflanzen toxisch 3. Sie bewirken bei gleich-zeitig erhhter Ozonkonzentration eine Beeintrchti-gung der Lungenfunktion 4 und haben bei langfris-tiger Exposition auch eine gentoxische Wirkung 5.Diese Richtlinie ist die berar

33、beitung der Ausgabevon 1985, mit der erstmals fr das im Zusammenhangmit der Erforschung des Photosmogs interessant ge-wordene PAN ein standardisiertes Messverfahren be-reitgestellt wurde.1 AnwendungsbereichDiese Richtlinie beschreibt ein direktes gaschromato-graphisches Messverfahren zur Bestimmung

The guidelines and standards are published in the six-volume VDI/DIN Reinhaltung der Luft (Air Pollu-tion Prevention) manual.IntroductionPeroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN), chemical formulaCH3C(O)OONO2, is the trivial name for peroxyacet

37、icacid nitric anhydride. However, the correct designa-tion of this substance, according to the IUPAC no-menclature, is quite rarely used in the literature. Thisis why the trivial name will also be used in this guide-line. PAN is produced in the atmosphere by photo-chemical oxidation of non-methane h

38、ydrocarbons(NMHC) in the presence of nitrogen dioxide (NO2).Because this is the only source of this compound,PAN is, in principle, a better indicator for photo-chemical air pollution than ozone (O3), which can beintroduced from the stratosphere into the tropospherealso by transport. In the vicinity

39、of urban centres withpowerful anthropogenic nitric oxide and NMHCsources (road traffic, industry), PAN volume concen-trations in the ppb range 1; 2 are measured in sum-mer. These concentrations cause severe eye irritationand are toxic to plants 3. With simultaneously in-creased ozone concentrations,

40、 they affect pulmonaryfunction 4 and in case of long-term exposure theyalso have a genotoxic effect 5. This guideline is the revised version of the 1985 edi-tion, which specified for the first time a standardisedmethod for the determination of PAN, which hasgained in interest in the research into ph

41、otosmog. 1 ScopeThis guideline specifies a direct gas chromatographicmethod for the determination of peroxyacetyl nitrate(PAN) in ambient air.
