10、nts for eight categories of burglar-resistant safes. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. 18、hanism be compromised 3.11 safe strong, burglar-resistant repository or receptacle for storing valuables 3.12 successful entry In the case of a safe with a deposit trap, successful entry is achieved by: a) the opening of a door; b) the making of a four-sided handhole, in any part of the safe or the

19、deposit trap, of size at least 100 mm 100 mm and which allows access to the interior of the safe; c) separating the deposit trap from the safe and removing any of the contents of the safe or trap; d) removing any of the contents by means of fishing/trapping; or e) trapping deposit bags or envelopes.

20、 SANS 751:2008 Edition 5 5 In the case of a safe without a deposit trap, successful entry is achieved by: a) the opening of a door; or b) the making of a four-sided handhole, in any part of the safe, of size at least 100 mm 100 mm, and which allows access to the interior of the safe. 3.13 trapping a

21、ct of introducing a trapping tool into a deposit trap (in such a way as to escape detection by the depositor), in order to prevent a deposit from reaching the safe 4 General requirements 4.1 Materials 4.1.1 Materials for door handles The door handles of a safe shall be of an inherently corrosion-res

22、istant material. 4.1.2 Steels and barrier materials Steels and barrier materials that are used in the manufacture of a safe shall be capable of passing the tests given in 8.4 to 8.13 (inclusive). Any fire-resistant material used shall be a solid, non-combustible, heat-resistant, thermal-insulating m

23、aterial that is non-hygroscopic. 4.2 Construction 4.2.1 Welds Where exposed on the outside of a safe, welds shall be flush with the parent metal, to give an acceptable finish. 4.2.2 Dimensions The dimensions of a safe shall be as agreed upon (see annex A). 4.2.3 Strength and rigidity The outer casin

24、g, doors, door frames, hinges and similar components of a safe shall be strong enough to ensure alignment of doors and door frames. 4.2.4 Ease of operation The locks, hinges and boltwork of a safe shall be so designed, constructed and installed that they will operate easily and efficiently. 4.2.5 Ea

25、se of maintenance 4.2.5.1 General The components of the boltwork and the relocking device of a safe shall be so constructed and assembled that any component can be repaired or replaced by a competent safe technician. 4.2.5.2 Spare components The manufacturer shall ensure that spare components for an

26、y safe are available for at least five years after discontinuation of that particular model. SANS 751:2008 Edition 5 6 4.2.6 Durability The hinges and boltwork of a safe shall be so designed and constructed that they will still operate acceptably after they have been subjected to the durability test

27、s given in 8.12 and 8.13, respectively. 4.2.7 Internal fittings The internal fittings of a safe shall be as agreed upon (see annex A). 4.2.8 Means for securing safe in position A safe of net mass 500 kg or less shall be provided with means for rigidly securing the safe in position. The means for sec

28、uring the safe shall be as required (see annex A). 4.2.9 Doors 4.2.9.1 General The door of a safe shall be so mounted that it can be opened and closed easily, and, when the door is closed, the gap between the door and the door frame shall be of uniform width not exceeding 3,0 mm. 4.2.9.2 Boltwork co

29、ver plate An internal boltwork cover plate shall be fitted which prevents unauthorised viewing of the locks and boltwork, and access to them when the door is open. Boltwork cover plates shall be secured so that they cannot be opened or removed without leaving visible traces. 4.2.9.3 Escutcheon A sui

30、table escutcheon may be fitted over the keyhole of the safe. 4.2.10 Locks The locks of a safe shall be constructed of materials that are acceptably resistant to corrosion and wear. They shall be designed to offer resistance to picking. The actual type(s) of lock(s) (see 4.2.10.1 to 4.2.10.3), and th

31、e number to be fitted, shall be as agreed upon (see annex A). 4.2.10.1 Lever locks A lever lock shall be of an acceptable type (see 3.1). It shall have at least six levers. At least three of the levers shall have false notchings and there shall be at least 5 000 different settings. Each lock shall b

32、e provided with two keys. When a lever lock is tested in accordance with 8.11, it shall be possible, at the end of the test, to operate the lock by means of the key. 4.2.10.2 Mechanical combination locks When relevant, combination locks shall be fitted as follows: a) safes of category 1, category 2,

33、 category 2 HD and category 2 ADM (see 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5) shall be fitted with at least one three-wheel combination lock that has at least 1 000 000 (one million) different combinations; and SANS 751:2008 Edition 5 7 b) safes of category 2 ADM D3, category 3, category 4 and category 5 (see 5.6,

34、5.7, 5.8 and 5.9) shall be fitted with 1) at least one four-wheel combination lock that has at least 100 000 000 (one hundred million) different combinations; or 2) a three-wheel manipulation proof (MP) combination lock. All mechanical combination locks shall require the use of a key for changing th

35、e combination and such locks shall comply with the requirements of EN 1300 class B. 4.2.10.3 Electronic locks When electronic locks are used on their own or in tandem with existing locks, the locks shall comply with the requirements of EN 1300 class B. Time delay locks shall be of the stand-alone ty

36、pe and shall not interfere with existing locking devices. 4.2.11 Relocking device The relocking device(s) shall be of a type that will immediately come into action when a lock is attacked or dislodged. The relocking device shall be capable of passing the relevant tests given in 8.5 to 8.13 (inclusiv

37、e). 4.2.12 Cable access Where required, means enabling a connection to an alarm system shall be provided (see A.2(d). 4.3 Finish 4.3.1 Machined parts All machined parts of a safe shall have a smooth finish and shall be free from ragged edges and tool marks. NOTE For verification of the quality of bu

38、rglar-resistant safes, see annex B. 4.3.2 Protection against corrosion When not made of a metal that is inherently corrosion-resistant, the safe and its locks and boltwork shall be so protected as to resist the corrosive influence to which they are expected to be subjected in normal service. 4.3.3 D

39、ecorative finishes 4.3.3.1 Surface preparation Before a safe is painted, all burrs and sharp edges shall have been removed and all surfaces shall be smooth, dry and free from grease, rust, scale, laminations and other surface imperfections. 4.3.3.2 Paint system The paint system shall consist of one

40、coat of an anti-corrosion primer followed by sufficient coats of finishing paint to give a total dry film thickness of at least 0,075 mm. The decorative finish shall be of a uniform colour and shall be free from faults that could detract from the final finish. Hammertone finishes shall also be free

41、from fisheyes. When a painted surface is tested in accordance with 8.4.1, the scratch produced shall be free from jagged edges and shall not have penetrated to the underlying metal, and, when the painted surface is tested in accordance with 8.4.2, the cross-cutting classification shall be not more t

SANS 751:2008 Edition 5 8 5 Specific requirements for safes that do not have deposit traps 5.1 General A burglar-resistant safe shall be of category 1, 2, 2 HD, 2 ADM, 2 ADM D3, 3, 4 or 5, as required (see annex A). 5.2 Category 1 When tested in accordance with 8.5, a burglar-resistant safe o

43、f category 1 shall be capable of resisting successful entry for a net working time of 15 min. 5.3 Category 2 When tested in accordance with 8.5, a burglar-resistant safe of category 2 shall be capable of resisting successful entry for a net working time of 30 min. 5.4 Category 2 HD A burglar-resista

44、nt safe of category 2 HD shall be capable of resisting successful entry as follows: a) when tested in accordance with 8.5, for a net working time of 30 min.; or b) when tested in accordance with 8.6, for a net working time of 30 min; or c) when tested in accordance with a combination of the methods

45、given in (a) and (b) above, for a net working time of 60 min, but the use of a disc cutter shall be limited to 30 min. 5.5 Category 2 ADM (anti-disc cutter material) A burglar-resistant safe of category 2 ADM shall be capable of resisting successful entry as follows: a) when tested in accordance wit

46、h 8.5, for a net working time of 60 min; or b) when tested in accordance with 8.6, for a net working time of 60 min; or c) when tested in accordance with a combination of the methods given in (a) and (b) above, for a net working time of 60 min. 5.6 Category 2 ADM D3 The body of a burglar-resistant s

47、afe of category 2 ADM D3 shall comply with the requirements of 5.5, and the door of the safe shall comply with the requirements of 5.7. 5.7 Category 3 A burglar-resistant safe of category 3 shall be capable of resisting successful entry as follows: a) when tested in accordance with 8.5, for a net wo

48、rking time of 60 min; or b) when tested in accordance with 8.6, for a net working time of 60 min; or c) when tested in accordance with 8.7, for a net working time of 60 min or until gases are exhausted, whichever is the shorter period; or d) when tested in accordance with any combination of the meth

49、ods given in (a), (b) and (c) above, for a net working time of 60 min. SANS 751:2008 Edition 5 9 5.8 Category 4 A burglar-resistant safe of category 4 shall be capable of resisting successful entry as follows: a) when tested in accordance with 8.5, for a net working time of 60 min; or b) when tested in accordance with 8.6, for a net working time of 60 min; or c) when tested in accordance with 8.7, for a net working time of 60 min or until the gases are exhausted, whichever is the shorter period; or d) when tested in accordance with 8.9, for a net working time of 60 min; or
