9、use numbsr(s) given in brackets at the beginning or after the heading of a clause idare, unless otherwise stated, the number(s) of the relevant clause(s) of SABS 1200 M. 1 Essential project specification clauses Set out suitable clauses in Portion 2 of the project specification to provide essential

10、information as follows: a) (3.3.1) State here or under SABS 1200 MG) or SABS 1200 MH), the size and grade of the aggregate required. b) (3.3.2) State here or under SABS 1200 MG) whether fine or coarse slurry is required and state the grade or type of aggregate required. c) (3.3.3) State here or unde

11、r SABS 1200 MFH) or SABS 1200 MFL) or SABS 1200 ME) the type and nominal size of material required. 2 Essential data The availability of certain essential data could affect the prices tendered. Except where such data have been given in the schedule or in the tender drawings, set out suitable ciauses

12、 covering items such as the following in portion 2 of the project specification: a) (3.2) Designate, if practicable, the sources of supply of materials for each controlled layer. b) (3.3.4) Where the filler for waterbound macadam is a cohesionless sand it might be necessary to add cement, slaked lim

13、e or other suitable fine material to the final layer of filler to provide a well-bound firm surface for the waterbound macadam base, so that the coarse aggregate will not be displaced under construction traffic when priming or surfacing is being done. 3 Additional clauses 3.1 General Where it is nec

14、essary to amplify or otherwise to vary the terms of SABS 1200 M to render them suitable for use in projects to be carried out in particular locations or under particular circumstances, include in the project specification clauses dealing with matters other than those covered by clauses 1 and 2. 3.2

15、Normal projects (See 3.2 of each of the sections of this part of the code relating to the standardized specifications that form part of the contract.) NOTE - To meet requirements imposed by various norms of economic development, projects are classified as normal, prestige, sub-economic, and labour-b

16、ased projects (see the Introduction to SABS 0120-3). 3.2.1 Pedocrete and argillaceous rock (3.3.1) If the use of pedocrete or argillaceous rock (or both) is acceptable for the project, include in the project specification a clause that permits their use and specifies any restrictions that might appl

17、y. NOTE - Pedocrete should only be permitted where substantive research information indicates its acceptability. 3.2.2 Polished stone value (3.3.1) If the polished stone value is a required criterion for material to be used on the project, include in the project specification a clause that specifies

18、 it as such and, if necessary, amends the specified value. (see 1 .l .2 of section M of SABS 01 20-3). 1 ) Bituminous surface treatment. 2) Asphalt base and surfacing. 3) Roads (heavy pavement structures (In course of preparation). 4) Base (light pavement structures). 5) Subbase. 19、n M:1996 Roads (general) 3.2.3 Average least dimension (ALD) of aggregate If the average least dimension (ALD) of the aggregate is a required criterion for the aggregate, include in the project specification a clause that specifies it as such and state the value required (see l .l .3 of setlion M of

20、 SABS 0120-3). 3.2.4 Maximum size for G4 material (table 8) If required, specify that the G4 material shall have a maximum size of 37,5 mm. 3.2.5 Soluble salts (3.3.6.2) If a material excluded by 3.3.6.2(a)(2)(ii) or 3.3.6.2(b), is permitted, include in the project specification a clause that allows

21、 such a material and specifies the treatment it should be given. 3.2.6 Sand Where the in-situsand does not comply with the definition in 2.2 of SABS 1200 M and a relative compaction of at least 100 % of modified AASHTO maximum density is not achievable (see 1 .l .6 of section M of SABS 0120-3), spec

22、ify a relative compaction that is achievable. 3.3 Prestige and major projects 3.3.1 Testing and control by statistical methods (7.3.3) Where a project is of such magnitude or of such importance that statistical control is warranted and is not required in terms of an applicable specification, include

23、 a clause such as the following (See also 1 .l .4 and 2.3 of seclion M of of SABS 01 20-3): PSM1 Statistical judgement plan (7.3.3) Control and acceptance of relative compaction shall be in accordance with the statistical judgement plan as set out in appendix B. 3.4 Labour-based projects See 2.2 of section M of SABS 0120-3. sabs pta
