2、of the Navy 1. SCOPE - 1.1 Scope - The equipment covered by this specification shall provide a permanent record of the temperature profile of sea water from sea level to a depth of 1,000 feet. The equipment shall be used in naval aircraft for the purposes of oceanographic research and anti-submarine
3、 warfare. 1 :2 consist of the item listed in paragraph 6.8. Classification - The equipment covered by this specification shall 1.3 associated equipment listed in paragraph 6.9. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 duc
11、 ti on testing . Preproduction - This specification makes provision for prepro - 3.2 fillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consideration. In so doing, the following shall govern: Parts and Materials - .In the selection of parts and materials, ful- (4 Microelectronic technology shall
12、 be considered and microelectronic items shall conform to requirements specified herein. Other parts and materials requirements shall conform to Specification MIL-E- 5400. (b) (cl Nonr epai rable subassemblies, as outlined in Specifi ea tion MIL-E-5400, shall be used when practicable. The gen- eral
13、size of the subassembly and the amount of circuitry to be included therein, shall be approved by the procur- ing activity. Nonrepairable subassemblies must be re- liable. ( See 6.5 ) When previously produced models of this equipment did not use nonrepairable subassemblies, the design shall not be ch
14、anged to employ nonrepairable assemblies with- out the approval of the procuring activity. (4 3.2.1 Nonstandard Parts and Materials Approval - Approval for the use of nonstandard parts and materials ( including electron tubes, transis- tors and diodes ) shall be obtained as outlined in Specification

16、epth profile of sea water and a concurrent binary coded data word, for the temperature range of 28“ to 95“ F from sinusoidal input signals. The input signal frequency range shall be 1360 Hz to 2700 Hz. The formula to convert input signal.frequency (f) in Hz to temperature readout (T) in degrees Fahr
17、enheit is as follows: f-800 20 T= Conversely, the formula to convert temperature readout to applied frequency is f = 20T + 800. 3.4,4 Sensitivity - The equipment shall operate satisfactorily with in- put signals within the range of O. 5 volt RMS to 3. O volt RMS. 3.5 Detail Requirements - 3.5.1 foll
18、owing requirements. Recorder, Bathythermograph Data - The recorder shall meet the 3.5.1.1 Form Factor - The recorder shall be enclosed in a case, meeting the applicable requirements of Specification NlIL-C-6781, The case shall be suitable for rack mounting in an aircraft in accordance with Specifica
19、tion MIL- F-25173. Case dimensions shall be as stated in Handbook EI-504. * 3.5.1.2 Contents - The equipment shall contain the following subassem- blies and circuits: (a) Input Amplifier (b) Receiver Noise (c) Enable - Inhibit Circuit (d) Calibrate Signal Generator, and Meter Check (e) Frequency to

Input Amplifier - The input amplifier shall provide an equipment 3.5.1.4 noise shall not cause the stylus to deflect in excess of 25% of full scale from its minimum temperature indication. For this requirement, it may be assumed that the receiver noise will be white n
22、oise contained in the spectrum of 100 Hz to 40 kHz, having gaussian distribution of amplitudes with an RMS value of 1.5 volts. Receiver Noise - In the absence of a signal input, the receiver * 3.5.1.5 Enable - Inhibit Cire-uit - The presence of a valid signal shall be recognized by the enable-inhibi
23、t circuit. Under no-signal conditions, this cir- cuit shall provide an inhibit which blocks the Data Word Enter Line. The pre- sence of a valid signal will remove the inhibit.
