1、A-A-55446 m 9999974 0167023 204 m A-A-55446 20 APRIL 1995 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION GUARD, STRING LIGHT The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Type IX of Military Specification MIL-L-19037B for all federai agencies. 1, AB

2、STRACT. The guard shall be suitable for attaching to a weatherproof type, medium size, Edison base stringer lamp holder having a shade holder groove with grounding surface. The guard shall accommodate a size A23 bulb. This item is used for protection of the lamp when temporary lights are strung in t

3、he field around new construction, in mines, industrial settings, and other places where temporary site lighting is required. 2. CLASSIFICATION. 2.1. Twe 1. Open ended. Allows lamp changes without removal of the guard. 2.2. Twe 2. Enclosed. Guard must be removed for lamp changes. Enclosed guards prov

4、ide additional protection for lamps and discourage unauthorized removal of lamps. 3. SALIENT CHARAC TERISTICS. 3.1. Construction. The guard shall be constructed of welded steel wire having a minimum wire gauge thickness of No. 10 SWG (Steel Wire Gage) before application of zinc coating. The guard sh

5、all be a standard commercial product. 3.2. Con: osion Drotection. After fabrication (all welding completed) the guard shall be zinc coated. Screw fasteners shall be stainless steel, austenitic types, selected from the 300 series (see SAE 51086, Recommended Practice for Numbering Metals and Alloys di

Type 1 shall be minimum 3-314 inches. For Type 2 see 3.3.2. 3.4. Materials exception. When the guard is constructed

7、 of cold-heading stainless steel wire (Types 303,304;or 305) there shall be no requirement for zinc coating. 3.5. * . All components and assemblies shall be fiee of dirt and other extraneous materials. Burrs, slivers, rough die, tool, and grinding marks, dents, and cracks shall be unacceptable. Cast

8、ings, molded parts and stampings, shall be fiee of sand, fms, pits, blow holes, and sprues. The surfaces of parts to be welded or brazed shall be clean. All scale and flux shall be removed from the finished weld area. The welds shall be smooth. Threaded fasteners shall not be missing, broken, cracke

9、d, or stripped of threads. There shall be no defects affecting serviceability, durability, operation or appearance. 4. REGU LATORY REOUIREMENTS. 4.1. Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum practical ext

10、ent. Recycled or reclaimed materials may be used in the construction of the equipment described herein. Recycled and reclaimed materials shall consist of previously used material which has been reprocessed to become a source of new raw materials. Under no conditions or circumstances shall the contra

11、ctor submit to the Government for acceptance reconditioned or rebuilt components as a part of the equipment described herein. 5. DUALITYASSURA NCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Contractor certificatia The contractor shall certiw and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient chara

12、cteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same as the product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. When specific quality assurance provisions are specif

13、ied for any commercial characteristic the contractor shall maintain records resulting from his inspection(s) conducted in accordance with the specific quality assurance provisions. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be

14、 otherwise provided under the provisions of the contract. The governent reserves the right to audit the contractors quality assurance records. 5.2. Succe ssful commercial operation. No item of equipment offered under this CID shall be acceptable unless the manufacturer has marketed equipment of the

15、same size (similar capacity) and type in a commercial environment for a minimum period of one year. Equipment installed for test purposes in a manufacturers plant or test laboratory shall not be considered as complying with this requirement. 5.3. Warranty. Unless otherwise specified in the contract,

16、 the manufacturers standard commercial warranty terms shall apply. 6. PACKAGI NG. 6.1. Preservation. Packaging. Packing. Labeling and Marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6.1.1. Commercial. In the absence of detailed

17、 instructions in the contract or purchase order, preservation and packing shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951, Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging.
