In addition to markings specified inthe Standard the CSA Certification and Testing Division may require special cautions, markings and instructions thatare not spe

Scope1.1This Standard applies to enclosed equipment that is to be permanently field connected to line or load circuits rated 750V or less.1.2Minimum wiring space and wir

32、e bending space requirements are specified for field installed wires terminating in orpassing through enclosures or terminal boxes.1.3The requirements are considered to be the minima that would permit field wiring without damage to the wires.1.4This Standard shall form a part of and be read in conju

33、nction with all individual standards to which the requirements ofthis Standard may apply, except that, where an individual standard contains requirements that are at variance withthose of this Standard, the requirements of the individual standard shall take precedence.1.5This Standard does not apply

34、 to enclosures of equipment intended to be wired with conductors that are smaller than No.14 AWG.2. Definitions2.1The following definitions apply in this Standard:Wire bending space means a wiring space opposite field wiring terminals or any other space in which it is intended thatfield installed wi

35、res may be bent or offset.Wiring space means a space within an enclosure to accommodate field installed wires.3. Requirements3.1 General3.1.1There shall be adequate space within an enclosure for the installation and termination of all wires intended to beemployed. 3.1.2Wiring and wire bending spaces

36、 shall be smooth and free from sharp edges, burrs, or other sources of mechanicaldamage, which could damage wire insulation.3.2 Wiring Space (See Appendix A.)A wiring space shall have, clear of all obstructions, a cross sectional area of not less than 250% of the total crosssectional area of the max

37、imum number of wires intended to be installed in it, and the minimum width or depth shall benot less than shown in Table 1.3.3 Wire Bending Space at Field Wiring Terminals Including the Neutral (See Appendix A.)3.3.1Except as permitted in Clause 3.3.2, wire bending space shall, for the maximum size

38、and number of wire(s) intended, benot less than(a) as shown in Table 2; or(b) as shown in Table 3 if the wire connectors can be readily removed to facilitate making connections.Copyright CSA International83.3.2Provided the wires do not enter the enclosure through the portion of the wall opposite the

39、 field wiring terminals, the wirebending space shall be not less than shown in Table 4 for the maximum size and number of wire(s) intended if(a) after the wires enter the enclosure they are required to make only one 90 bend; or(b) the wires enter a space having a width not less than shown in Table 2

40、 for the maximum size and number of wire(s)intended, and this space opens directly into the wire bending space.In both cases the intended wiring method shall be ensured by suitably located knockouts or openings or by adiagram supplied with the equipment.3.3.3The wire bending space at a field wiring

41、terminal shall be measured to the enclosure wall opposite it, from the centre ofthe conductor opening on the face of the wire connector, in the line in which the wire leaves the connector when theconnector is at the smallest angle to the perpendicular to the enclosure wall that it can assume without

42、 defeating anyreliable means provided to prevent its turning. A connector shall not be directed at a corner or a recess in an enclosureto obtain the required bending space.3.3.4If a terminal is provided with one or more wire connectors for connecting wires in multiple, the bending space shall bemeas

43、ured from the wire opening closest to the wall of the enclosure.3.3.5If a wire is restricted by a barrier or obstruction from being bent in a single 90 or S bend between the terminal and anypermitted enclosure entrance point, the wire bending space shall be measured from the end of the barrier or ob

44、structionto the wall towards which the wire is directed, in a line perpendicular to the wall.Note: See Figure 4 of Appendix A. 3.3.6A barrier, shoulder, or the like shall be disregarded when the measurement is being made if it does not reduce theradius to which the wire must be bent.Note: See Figure

45、 5 of Appendix A.3.4 Wire Bending Space at Other Than Field TerminalsWire bending space at other than field terminals shall have a minimum dimension not less than that shown in Table 4,for the maximum size of wire intended for wires that are intended to make only one 90 bend within that space.
