Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor fabricated or molded poly(vinyl chloride)

3、 (PVC) gasketedsewer fittings to be used with piping manufactured to Specifi-cations D 3034, F 679, F 891 or F 1760. Fabricated fittingsmay be manufactured from pipe, or from a combination of pipeand injection molded parts, or from injection molded parts.1.2 The requirements of this specification ar

4、e to providefabricated or molded PVC gasketed fittings suitable for non-pressure drainage of sewage and surface water, as well asapplications involving subsurface drainage.NOTE 1Industrial waste lines should be installed only with thespecific approval of the governing code authority when using chemi

18、e components for fabricatedfittings shall be made from PVC compounds meeting the cellclassifications indicated under the material section of the pipestandards referenced in 1.1. Molded components or fittingsshall be made from virgin or rework PVC compound having acell classification of 11432 or 1232

19、1 as prescribed in Specifi-cation D 4396 or 12454 or 13343 as prescribed in SpecificationD 1784. Virgin or rework compounds that have different cellclassifications because one or more properties exceed theminimum requirements of those specified compounds are alsoacceptable.4.2 Rework MaterialClean r

20、ework material generatedfrom the manufacturers own pipe, molded components, orfittings production may be used by the same manufacturerproviding the rework material meets the requirements of 4.1and that the pipe, molded components, or fittings producedmeet all the requirements of this specification.5

21、. Miscellaneous Requirements5.1 Gasketed Joining System:5.1.1 The assembled joint shall display no leakage whentested in accordance with the requirements of SpecificationD 3212.5.1.2 The joint assembly shall be in accordance with thefitting manufacturers recommendations. The end of the pipe orfittin

22、g spigot shall not damage or dislodge the gasket duringinsertion. Lubricant is required on the spigot and sometimesadditionally on the gasket. All surfaces of the joint that makecontact with the gasket shall be smooth and free of imperfec-tions, ridges, fractures, or cracks that could adversely affe

23、ct theseal.5.1.3 The dimensions of the elastomeric gasket seal jointsshall accommodate pipes and fitting spigots having the averageoutside diameters and tolerances detailed in Table 1.5.2 Elastomeric Seal Components:5.2.1 BellsThe dimensions shall be in accordance withthe manufacturers standard desi

24、gn dimensions and tolerances.5.2.2 GasketsThe elastomeric seal (gasket) shall complywith the requirements of Specifications F 477 or F 913 at thetime the fittings are manufactured.5.3 LubricantThe lubricant used for field assembly shallbe the type recommended by the manufacturer of the gasketedjoint

25、.5.4 Fabrication Joint MaterialThe fabrication joint ma-terial or reinforcing overlays shall be of that type, strength, andproperties suitable for the intended fabrication. It is thedecision of the manufacturer as to what material will be used.The PVC primer shall meet the requirements of Specificat

26、ionF 656. The PVC solvent cement shall meet the requirements ofSpecification D 2564.5.5 Over-Wrapped FittingsFabricated fittings that have areinforcing overlay of fiberglass and thermosetting resin shallmeet all of the requirements of this specification except for 4.1and 4.2.5.6 Pipe PerformanceWhen

27、 pipe is used to fabricate afitting, the pipe shall meet the requirements of the relevantASTM standards.5.7 WaterwayFabricated fittings shall be constructed sothat pipe ends do not project into the waterway of the fittingbody.6. 33、ness:6.2.1 Fabricated FittingsPipe wall thickness shall meetthe requirements of the applicable specifications mentioned inthe scope of this specification when measured in accordancewith Test Method D 2122 and 10.1.2, and shall have a mini-mum pipe stiffness of 46 psi. In the case of fittings fabrica

34、tedfrom pipe sections, the thickness of the wall in the bell and thebranch area shall be considered satisfactory if it was formedfrom pipe meeting those requirements.6.2.2 Molded Fittings or Components The wall thicknessof the waterway and socket or bell of molded fittings orcomponents shall be no l

35、ess than the respective minimumthickness indicated in Table 1. For reducing fittings or thosewith smaller inlets, the minimum wall thickness of each inletshall be no less than the minimum wall thickness indicated inTable 1 for that nominal pipe size. The thickness shall bedetermined in accordance wi

36、th Method D 2122 and 10.1.2NOTE 2Refer to Fig. 1, Fig. 2, and Appendix X1 for geometricconfigurations as illustrations of some of the fittings being produced.Consult the individual manufacturer for laying lengths.6.3 Socket LengthThe minimum distance from the centerof the gasket to the bottom of the

37、 socket and the maximumdistance from the center of the gasket to the outermost edge offitting socket (see Fig. 3) shall comply with the dimensionsgiven in Table 2 when measured in accordance with TestMethod D 2122 and 10.1.3.6.4 Spigot LengthThe minimum distance from the spigotend to the area where

38、spigot diameter changes due to a socket,branch, or change in angle shall comply with the dimensionsgiven in Table 2 when measured in accordance with 10.1.4.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 Impact StrengthThe impact strength of tees, wyes,couplings, bends, increasers/reducers, and saddles shall be noless

42、7.4 Branch Bending The wye or tee branch of a fabricatedfitting shall be subject to a load in accordance with 10.5.NOTE 5This is intended only for use as a quality control test; not foruse as a simulated service test.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous through

43、out and freefrom visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other injuriousdefects. The fittings shall be as uniform as commerciallypractical in color, opacity, density, and other physical proper-ties.9. Sampling and Conditioning9.1 Sampling The selection of fitting samples shall be asagreed upon

44、 between the purchaser and the seller. In case of noprior agreement, samples selected by the testing laboratoryshall be deemed adequate.9.2 Conditioning:9.2.1 Referee TestingThe specimen shall be conditionedin accordance with Procedure A of Practice D 618 at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % relativ

45、e humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to test. Tests shall be conducted at the sameconditions of temperature and humidity, unless otherwisespecified.9.2.2 Quality Control TestsFor quality control tests, thespecimens shall be conditioned for a minimum of4hinairor1 h in water at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C)

46、. The specimen shallbe tested at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) without regard to relativehumidity.10. Test Methods10.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:10.1.1 DiameterThe average outside diameter of a pipeor spigot component shall be measured in accordance with TestMethod D 2122. A measurement device accurate to 0

47、.001 in.(0.02 mm) shall be used.10.1.2 Wall ThicknessWall thickness shall be measuredin accordance with Test Method D 2122. A measurementdevice accurate to 0.001 in. (0.02 mm) shall be used.10.1.3 Socket LengthSocket length shall be measured inaccordance with Test Method D 2122.Asteel rule, with at
