Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor fabricated or molded poly(vinyl chloride)
3、 (PVC) gasketedsewer fittings to be used with piping manufactured to Specifi-cations D 3034, F 679, F 891 or F 1760. Fabricated fittingsmay be manufactured from pipe, or from a combination of pipeand injection molded parts, or from injection molded parts.1.2 The requirements of this specification ar
4、e to providefabricated or molded PVC gasketed fittings suitable for non-pressure drainage of sewage and surface water, as well asapplications involving subsurface drainage.NOTE 1Industrial waste lines should be installed only with thespecific approval of the governing code authority when using chemi
5、calsnot commonly found in drains and sewers or temperatures in excess of140F (60C), or both.1.3 Fittings produced to this specification are intended to beinstalled with pipe, in accordance with Practice D 2321.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. Within the te

The abbreviation forpoly(vinyl chloride) plastic is PVC. The abbreviation forplastic sewer main is PSM.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 Basic MaterialsThe pip
18、e components for fabricatedfittings shall be made from PVC compounds meeting the cellclassifications indicated under the material section of the pipestandards referenced in 1.1. Molded components or fittingsshall be made from virgin or rework PVC compound having acell classification of 11432 or 1232
19、1 as prescribed in Specifi-cation D 4396 or 12454 or 13343 as prescribed in SpecificationD 1784. Virgin or rework compounds that have different cellclassifications because one or more properties exceed theminimum requirements of those specified compounds are alsoacceptable.4.2 Rework MaterialClean r
20、ework material generatedfrom the manufacturers own pipe, molded components, orfittings production may be used by the same manufacturerproviding the rework material meets the requirements of 4.1and that the pipe, molded components, or fittings producedmeet all the requirements of this specification.5

Miscellaneous Requirements5.1 Gasketed Joining System:5.1.1 The assembled joint shall display no leakage whentested in accordance with the requirements of SpecificationD 3212.5.1.2 The joint assembly shall be in accordance with thefitting manufacturers recommendations. The end of the pipe orfittin
22、g spigot shall not damage or dislodge the gasket duringinsertion. Lubricant is required on the spigot and sometimesadditionally on the gasket. All surfaces of the joint that makecontact with the gasket shall be smooth and free of imperfec-tions, ridges, fractures, or cracks that could adversely affe
23、ct theseal.5.1.3 The dimensions of the elastomeric gasket seal jointsshall accommodate pipes and fitting spigots having the averageoutside diameters and tolerances detailed in Table 1.5.2 Elastomeric Seal Components:5.2.1 BellsThe dimensions shall be in accordance withthe manufacturers standard desi
24、gn dimensions and tolerances.5.2.2 GasketsThe elastomeric seal (gasket) shall complywith the requirements of Specifications F 477 or F 913 at thetime the fittings are manufactured.5.3 LubricantThe lubricant used for field assembly shallbe the type recommended by the manufacturer of the gasketedjoint
