Scope1.1 This specification covers calcium silicate block and
3、pipethermal insulation for use on surfaces with temperaturesbetween 80 and 1700F (27 to 927C), unless otherwise agreedupon between the manufacturer and the purchaser.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Classification4.1 Thermal insulation shall be of the following types:4.1.1 Type IBlock for use on surfaces at temperature from80F (27C) to to 1200F (649C).4.1.2 Type IPipe for use on surfaces at temperature from80F (27C) to 1200F (649C).4.1.3 Type IABlock for use o
17、n surfaces at temperaturesfrom 80F (27C) to 1200F (649C).4.1.4 Type IIBlock for use on surfaces at temperaturesfrom 80F (27C) to 1700F (927C).5. Description5.1 CompositionCalcium silicate thermal insulation shallconsist principally of hydrous calcium silicate usually with theincorporation of fibrous
18、 reinforcement. Asbestos shall not beused as a component in the manufacture of the material.6. Physical Requirements6.1 The insulation shall conform to the physical require-ments of Table 1.7. Standard Shapes, Sizes, and Dimensions7.1 Calcium silicate block-type thermal insulation shall besupplied i
19、n the form of pipe insulation, flat block or curvedblocks as specified. Standard sizes of the block type insulationshall be as follows:7.1.1 Flat BlockFlat block shall be furnished in lengths of36 in. (458 or 914 mm), widths of 6 to 36 in. (152 to 914 mm),and thicknesses from 1 to 6 in. (25 to 152 m
20、m) in12-in.(13-mm) increments. Thicknesses greater than 3 in. (76 mm)shall be furnished in one or more layers as agreed upon bypurchaser and manufacturer.TABLE 1 Physical RequirementsNOTE 1The physical requirements are based on the properties of samples dried or conditioned, or both, as specified in
21、 the referenced test methods.Calcium silicate insulation tends to absorb moisture to varying degrees depending on exposure conditions. It can absorb up to 4 times its dry weight ifplaced in direct contact with water through improper storage or application.NOTE 2The user is advised that some applicat
22、ions could require the knowledge of the thermal conductivity of the insulation material at meantemperatures above those shown.
