Scope1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for free-cutting bismuth brass rod, bar and wire of UNS Alloy No.C49250 and C492
3、60 suitable for high-speed screw machinework, or for general applications.1.2 Typically, product made to this specification is furnishedas straight lengths, or coils when requested.1.3 UnitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Materials:6.1.1 The material of manufacture shall be a form of CopperAlloy UNS Nos. C49250 or C49260 of such purity andsoundness as to be suitable for processing
18、into the productsprescribed herein.6.1.2 In the event heat identification or traceability isrequired, the purchaser shall specify the details desired.NOTE 1Due to the discontinuous nature of the processing of castingsinto wrought products, it is not always practical to identify a specificcasting ana
19、lysis with a specific quantity of finished material.6.2 Manufacture:6.2.1 The product shall be manufactured by such hot work-ing, cold working, and annealing processes as to produce auniform wrought structure in the finished product.6.2.2 The product shall be hot or cold worked to the finishedsize,
20、and subsequently annealed when required, to meet thetemper properties specified.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The material shall conform to the chemical compositionrequirements in Table 1 for the UNS Number specified in theordering information.7.2 These composition limits do not preclude the presenceof
21、 other elements. Limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements by agreement between themanufacturer and the purchaser.7.3 For alloys in which zinc is listed as “remainder”, zinc isthe difference between the sum of results of all elementsdetermined and 100%. When all elements in
22、 Table 1 aredetermined, the sum of the results shall be 99.5% min.8. Temper8.1 The standard tempers for products described in thisspecification are given in Table 2.8.1.1 Rod (round, hexagonal, and octagonal), and bar shallbe furnished for general use in O60 temper for maximumformability, and H02 (h
23、alf-hard) for applications involvingmoderate cold forming.9. Mechanical Property Requirements9.1 The product shall conform to the tensile strength andelongation requirements of Tables 2 and 3 when tested inaccordance with Test Methods E8 and E8M.9.2 When specified in the contract or purchase order,
24、theyield strength shall be determined and conform with the yieldstrength requirements of Table 2 when tested in accordancewith Test Methods E8 and E8M.10.
