This standard is one of a series of safety standards that have been formulated by the Accredited Standards Committee on Safety in Construction and Demolition Operations, A10. I
13、t is expected that the standards in the A10 series will find a major application in industry, serving as a guide to contractors, labor, and equipment manufacturers. For the convenience of users, a list of existing and proposed standards in the A10 series for Safety Requirements in Construction and D
14、emolition Operations follows. A10.1 Pre-Project 2) Requirements of Section 12.1. 3.17 Shall. The word shall is to be understood as denoting a mandatory requirement. 3.18 Shield. A device that is attached to the fastener guide of a tool and is designed to confine flying particles. 3.19 Should. The wo
15、rd should is to be understood as denoting a recommendation. 3.20 Spalled Area. A damaged and non-uniform concrete or masonry surface. 4. REQUIREMENTS 4.1 General. 4.1.1 The tool shall be designed to prevent inadvertent actuation in accordance with the following: 4.1.1.1 The tool shall be designed to
16、 prevent actuation when dropped from a height of 10 feet (3m) onto a smooth, hard surface, such as concrete or steel, where such actuation can propel a fastener or any part thereof into the air. 4.1.1.2 Actuation of the tool shall be dependent upon at least two separate and distinct operations by th
17、e operator, with at least one operation being separate from the operation of placing the fastener guide against a firm surface. 4.1.1.3 The tool shall be designed not to be operable other than against a firm surface with a force on the surface equal to 5 pounds (22N) greater than the weight of the t
18、ool or a minimum impact energy of 3 foot-pounds (4 joules). 4.1.2 The tool shall be designed so that all parts will be of adequate strength to resist maximum stresses imposed upon actuation when the tool is used in accordance with the manufacturers instruc-AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD A10.3 2013 13 ti
19、on and is powered by any commercially available powder load that will properly chamber in the tool. 4.1.3 Each tool shall bear a legible, permanent model designation. Each tool shall also bear a legible, permanent manufacturers unique serial number. Note: Labels meeting the durability require-ments
20、of UL/CSA 60745-1, latest edition, are considered durable and permanent. 4.1.4 The following warning or equiva-lent shall appear on the tool container or packaging: WARNING POWDER-ACTUATED TOOL TO BE USED ONLY BY A QUALIFIED OPERATOR AND KEPT IN A SECURE SAFE LOCATION WHEN NOT IN USE. 4.1.5 Each too
21、l shall bear a durable warning label with the following statement, or the equivalent: WARNING FOR USE ONLY BY QUALIFIED OPERATORS ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTION MANUAL. Note: Labels meeting the durability requirements of UL/CSA 60745-1, latest edition, are considered durable and permanent. 4
22、.1.6 Each tool shall be supplied with an operators instruction manual and applicable powder load and fastener chart. 4.1.7 A shield shall be supplied with each tool, except for hammer-actuated tools. A shield shall be available for hammer-actuated tools without charge upon request. 4.2 Tool Selectio
23、n. 4.2.1 Only tools meeting the require-ments of the ANSI/ASSE A10.3 standard current at the time of their manufacture shall be used. 4.2.2 Only low-velocity tools may be used if they are capable of properly setting the fastener in the intended application. 5. POWDER LOADS 5.1 Identification of Case
24、d Powder Loads. Cased powder loads shall be coded to identify powder level by case color and number as specified in Table 1. 5.2 Identification of Caseless Powder Loads. Caseless powder loads shall be coded to identify powder load levels by powder load color and number as specified in Table 1 or by
