6、ndard NFPA 13.1.2 Sprinkler escutcheons constructed of nonmetallic (plastic) materials are intended for use as a ceilingor wall plate for pendent and horizontal sidewall sprinklers respectively.PERFORMANCE2 General2.1 Sample escutcheons are to be examined for compliance with the construction require

7、ments specifiedon manufacturers drawings including materials, dimensions, and tolerances.3 Differential Scanning and Calorimeter Test3.1 Thermograms of the escutcheon material are to be obtained by means of a duPont 90 degree thermalanalyzer with a Differential Scanning Calorimeter module. A graphic

8、al representation showing the thermalactivity of the sample over a programmed temperature range is to be developed. Sampling methods andinstrument settings used in obtaining these thermograms are recorded in sections of the thermogramrecords.4 High Temperature Exposure Test4.1 There shall be no defo

9、rmation or distortion of the escutcheon material when exposed to the conditionsdescribed in paragraph 4.2. Limited signs of crazing and discoloration of the escutcheon material isacceptable.4.2 Samples of the nonmetallic escutcheons are to be placed in an oven at 320F for 54 days todetermine the sta

10、bility of the material.5 Fire Exposure Test5.1 There shall be no interference to the sprinkler operation nor obstruction to the water distributionpattern caused by the escutcheon when tested as described in paragraph 5.2.5.2 One sample of each plastic escutcheon is to be used for this test. A Listed

11、 sprinkler pendent orhorizontal sidewall style, sample escutcheon and piping are to be installed as intended. The ceiling is toconsist ofa4by4feet gypsum board (1/2 inch thick), with the sprinkler installed at the center of the board.The sprinkler deflector is located 6 inches above a 1 square foot

12、pan containing 2 pints of heptane. 13、 Infrared Analysis6.1 Qualitative infrared analysis is to be conducted on samples cut from the plastic escutcheon.
