S0017-010-0 v3.0 1 INTRODUCTION 1 1.1 General Description 2 This document specifies procedures for Radio Link Protocol Type 3. Radio Link Protocol 3 Type 3 is used w

30、ith a cdma2000 Traffic Channel to support CDMA data services. For the 4 remainder of this chapter, Radio Link Protocol Type 3 shall be called RLP. 5 RLP provides an octet stream transport service over forward and reverse traffic channels. 6 RLP is unaware of higher layer framing; it operates on a fe

31、atureless octet stream, delivering 7 the octets in the order received. 8 RLP has procedures to substantially reduce the error rate exhibited by CDMA traffic 9 channels. There is no direct relationship between higher layer packets and the underlying 10 traffic channel frames; a large packet may span

32、multiple traffic channel frames, or a single 11 traffic channel frame may contain all or part of several small higher layer packets. 12 Section 2 is a general description of RLP that defines its use by any service option for which 13 it is suited. Section 3 defines the RLP procedures for encrypted o

33、r non-encrypted 14 applications. Section 4 defines the RLP frame formats. 15 Some features require capabilities first available in cdma2000 Release A (see 10). 16 cdma2000 systems supporting only 1 do not support the following: 17 Radio Configurations greater than 5. 18 Multiplex options 0x704 and 0

34、xf20. 19 Variable Length Frame Mode (VLF). 20 1.2 Terms and Numeric Variables 21 Base Station (BS). A fixed station used for communicating with mobile stations. 22 Depending upon the context the term Base Station may refer to a cell, a sector within a cell, 23 or other part of the wireless system. 2

35、4 Blank RLP Frame. An RLP frame received from or supplied to the multiplex sublayer that 25 contains no bits. 26 BS. See base station. 27 BS/MSC. The base station and mobile switching center considered as a single functional 28 entity. 29 Data Block. A unit of data transmitted by the mobile/base sta

36、tion that carries one or more 30 RLP frames. 31 Dedicated Control Channel. 40、 Fundamental Channel or a Dedicated 11 Control Channel. 12 Fundicated RLP Frame. An RLP frame carried in a fundicated data block. 13 L_SEQ. The 12-bit sequence number of the received frame. 14 L_V(N). The 12-bit sequence number of the next data frame needed for sequential delivery. 15 L_V(N)peer. An

41、 estimate of the peer RLPs L_V(N). 16 L_V(R). The 12-bit sequence number of the next expected new data frame. 17 L_V(S). The 12-bit sequence number of the next data frame to be supplied to the multiplex 18 sublayer. 19 MS. A station in the Public Cellular Radio Telecommunications Service intended to

42、 be used 20 while in motion or during halts at unspecified points. Mobile stations include portable 21 units (e.g., hand-held personal units) and units installed in vehicles. 22 MSC. Mobile Switching Center. 23 NAK_COUNTi. The number of NAKs to send in the ithNAK round. 24 NAK List. A list maintaine

43、d by RLP to track missing data frames and segments of data 25 frames. It is also used to map an 8-bit sequence number (SEQ) contained in a 26 retransmitted data frame to the 12-bit sequence number (L_SEQ) of the missing data frame. 27 NAK round. An interval that begins when RLP supplies the last of

44、one or more NAK control 28 frames for a missing data frame described by a NAK List entry and ends when the 29 REXMIT_TIMER expires for that NAK List entry. 30 Null RLP Frame. An RLP frame received from the multiplex sublayer that contains no 31 information bits, for which the multiplex sublayer dete

45、rmined that the transmitting RLP 32 had an opportunity to send data. 33 NUM_ROUNDS. The maximum number of NAK rounds transmitted by RLP. This equals 34 NAK_ROUNDS_REV at the mobile station and NAK_ROUNDS_FWD at the base station. 35 NUM_ROUNDSpeer. The maximum number of NAK rounds transmitted by the
