No. 00162(NAVY-SHIPS) June 14,1965 FEDERAL STANDARD HOSE, RUBBER, VISUAL INSPECTION GUIDE FOR Authority. This standard is issued pursuant to the Federal Property and Adminis

8、trative Services Act of 1949, as amended, and its application to the purchase of the commodities referred to herein is mandatory on all Federal agencies. S1. Scope. This standard covers visible defects in natural or synthetic rubber hose. S2. Identication. Throughout this standard, the table and fig

9、ures are identified by the possible defect under study and the classification of defect. When examined and tested in accordance with the procurement document, any defect listed in this standard which permits leakage shall be reclassified LLcritical” when the hose and couplings are intended for any o

10、f the following uses: divers air hose, high pressure hydraulic hose, outer space application, oxygen hose, steam hose, gasoline hose, or any applica- tion where leakage can result in injury or loss of life. References to classes in table I are identified as follows : Class A-a very high quality user

11、-sensitive hose, primarily divers air supply hose. Class B-high quality hose, such as high pressure hydraulic hose where failure could result in Class C-all other types of hose. loss of life. Where a class is not indicated, the defect is intended for all classes. S3. Purpose. The purpose of this sta

12、ndard is to: (a) Provide photographs and descriptions of the defects commonly found in rubber hose to- gether with a statement of their usual classification: “major defect or minor defect”. “Critical defects” are determined by examination and tests. o) Facilitate inspection of rubber hose and increa

13、se efficiency of Government inspectors. (e) Provide a training manual for new Government inspectors. S4. Changes. When a Federal agency considers that this standard does not provide for its essential needs, written request for changing or adding to the standard, supported by adequate justification,

14、shall be sent to the Administration. This justification shall explain wherein -the standard does not provide for essential needs. The request shall be sent in duplicate to the General Services Administration, Federal Supply Service, Standardization Division, Washington, D.C., 20406. The Administrati

15、on will determine the appropriate action to be taken and will notify the agency. S5. Applicable document. The following standard, of the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids or request for proposal, forms a part of this standard to the extent specified herein. Military Standard: MIGSTD-105

(Copies of Military Specifications and Standards required by contractors in connection with specific procurement functions should be obtained from the procuring activity or as directed by the contracting officer.)
