The respon-sible German body involved in its preparation was the Joint Committee Normung von Betonstahl und Spann-stahl of the Normenausschus
4、s Eisen und Stahl (Steel and Iron Standards Committee) and Normenausschuss Bauwesen (Building and Civil Engineering Standards Committee).EN 10080:2005 is a harmonized standard within the meaning of the EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC). Under Mandate M/115 it therefore lays down genera
5、l definitions and essential requirements for weldable reinforcing steel used for the reinforcement of concrete structures. The standard applies to bars, coils (rod, wire) and de-coiled products, sheets of factory-made machine-welded fabric, and lat-tice girders. It includes specifications for the ev
6、aluation and attestation of conformity, as well as informa-tion regarding the identification of the manufacturer and the technical class of the products. The annexes describe methods of testing lattice girders, which have not been standardized until now, as well as bond tests for ribbed and indented
7、 reinforcing steel.This standard does not define technical classes. A technical class of a reinforcing steel product is defined by means of various characteristics of the steel, the product being identified by means of the appropriate product number.Reinforcing steel cannot be ordered and/or supplie
8、d according to this standard. Reinforcing steel can only be supplied according to product specifications in which technical classes are set out (such specifica-tions include European Standards, technical specifications, national standards e.g. the new edition of the DIN 488 series of standards or ag
9、rments issued by the building inspectorate). If the provisions of these product specifications are in agreement with the present standard, then products manufactured according to those specifications may bear the CE mark if they fulfil all the relevant requirements. A new edition of the DIN 488 seri
10、es of standards is in preparation and will replace those standards listed in the supersedure statement.AmendmentsThe following changes have been made to DIN 488-1, September 1984 edition, DIN 488-2, DIN 488-4 and DIN 488-6, June 1986 editions, and DIN V ENV 10080, August 1995 edition:a) DIN 488-1, S
11、eptember 1984 edition1) The standard also applies to reinforcing steel in the form of coils and lattice girders.2) The standard does not specify any defined reinforcing steel grades.3) Specifications regarding the chemical composition have been modified and a maximum value for the carbon equivalent
