26、2 Strengthandselvedges Thetowelneedstohavesufficientstrength(seeTable1)towithstandthepullingactionexertedwhen thetowelisrolledandunrolledaswellaswhenthehandsarewipedanddriedbytheuser.Selvedges needtobeconstructedsothetowelrollsandunrollscorrectlywithinthedispenserforwhichitis designed(See4.2.2.2). 4

27、.1.3Wiping function Inordertowipethehandseffectivelythetowel needstobereadilymouldedbythehandsandfingers, exertsufficientfrictiontofeelcomfortablewhenincontactwiththeskin,andpresentanirregular surfacetoimprovetheremovalofresidualsubstancesfromthehands.Theseattributescanonlybe assessedsubjectively.EN

28、13569:2001(E) 5 4.1.4Drying function Thefabricshallhaveahighcapacityfortherapidabsorptionofwater.Theliquidabsorbancytimeis takenasmeasureforthedryingproperties(see4.2.2.1). 4.1.5Cleanliness Forthepurposesofthisstandard,atowelshallbeconsideredtobehygienicallycleanwhentreatedin adisinfectingprocesscar

29、riedoutaccordingtoavalidatedwashingandfinishingprocedure(see clause6).Asmicroorganismsmaystarttomultiplyassoonasthedisinfectingprocessiscomplete, itseffectivenessismaintainedbytheremovalofsoilandstains(sourcesofnutrients)andadequately dryingthetowel. NOTE Moistureandasourceofnutrientsarerequiredbyth

30、emicroorganismsinordertomultiply. 4.2 Technicalcharacteristics 4.2.1Fibres Cottonormanmadefibresorblendsshallbeusedtoproduceplainortwistedyarnsforweavingthe fabric. NOTE Theintroductionofpolyesterhastheeffectofaugmentingtheresistancetopillingandabrasion,but reducingtheabsorptioncapacity(e.g.Theintro

31、ductionof50%polyesterreducestheabsorptioncapacityby approximately25%),conversalytheintroductionofmanmadefibrescanaugmenttheabsorption;forexamplea mixturecomposedof62%cotton,25%polyesterand13%viscosehasasimilarrateofabsorptioncapacityto thatofa100%cottonfabric. 4.2.2Fabric 4.2.2.1 Propertiesandperfor

38、beusedanditswidthshallnotexceedthatoftheentryandexitopeningsofthe dispenser.EN13569:2001(E) 7 4.3.2 Lengthandwidth Inordertofitthedifferenttypesofdispenseravailable,thestatedlengthofatowelmayvaryfrom 20m to 45m (measured according to EN1773), and the stated width from 0,19mto 0,30m (measuredaccordin

39、gtoEN1773).However,particulartypesofdispensermayrequiretowelsof differentdimensions. 43、eisarequirementtodesign,validateandmonitorthe chosenprocedure,usingthemethoddescribedinthisclause.EN13569:2001(E) 8 6.1.1 Designofthedisinfecting process Thelaundryoperatorshalldesignadisinfectingprocess intothewashingandfinishingprocessforthe towel.Thedesignshalltaketheformofaprocessspecificationwithadetailedlistoftheimportant processvariables(seeannexCforexamples),togetherwiththeirminimumvalues. 6.1.2 Validationoftheprocess Thedesignedprocessshallbevalidatedforachievingthenecessarylevelofbacteriakill.Thisshall becarriedoutwhilstoperatingator abovetheminimumvaluesintheprocessspecificationa
