25、neral Thefollowinginformationshallbegivenbeforethepreparationofthetestspecimen: parentandweldmaterials; purposeofthetest. 7.2 Testspecimenpreparation Thetestspecimenshallbecutandpreparedforexaminationbyproducingasmoothsurface.Thiscanbeachieved byplaning,polishingorsimilartechnique. Ifpolishingisused

26、,thepolishingmaterialshallbeofseveralgradesuptoandatleastgrade1000(e.g.180320 600and1000). Thesurfacetobeexaminedshallnotbeadverselyinfluencedbytheseprocesses.Page6 EN128145:2000 7.3Surface finish Thesurfacetobeexaminedcanbesubmittedtoatreatmentinordertohighlighttheweldedzoneandpossiblythe imperfect

Thefollowingmethodscanbeused: heatthesurface(e.g.usinghotairflow,radiantheat,etc.); etchingthesurfacewithaspecificetchant; Theetchantsusedforthermoplasticsareoftentoxic.Therefore,etchingshouldonlybeperformedbyatrained person,followingrelevantsafetyregulations. 8Examination The
