23、It is a revision of BS5415-1:1976, which will be withdrawn on publication of the new editions of Sections2.1to2.3of BS5415. BS 5415-1is the base specification for the individual Sections of Part2of BS5415in which requirements for particular cleaning appliances are specified. Part1should be read with the appropriate Section(s) of Part2. Part1 may also be used for guidance when

BS 5415-1is technically related to IEC Publication335-1:1976 (with amendments no. 1to3) “Safety of household and similar electrical appliances Part1: General requirements”, published b

27、y the International Electrotechnical Commission. For ease of cross-reference, the clause, subclause, figure and appendix numbering of this Part of BS5415is the same as that of IEC335-1:1976 as far as possible. Where a clause of IEC335-1does not apply to this standard, the clause number has been reta

28、ined marked “Not applicable”. Additional subclauses particular to BS5415-1are numbered with the main clause number followed by .I, .II, etc. Appliances complying with the requirements of BS5415 are suitable for use in work activity to which the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act,19

29、74and its relevant statutory provisions, including the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act, 1963and the Factories Act, 1961, apply. Compliance with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations, 1975and the Electrical Equipment (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations, 1976will generally be assured if a

30、ppliances comply with the requirements of BS5415. For more precise details regarding the relevance of BS5415 to the regulations, reference should be made to the “Administrative Guidance on the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations, 1975and the Electrical Equipment (Safety) (Amendment) Regulation

31、s1976”, available from HMSO (ISBN0 11 511831 4). The requirement of 3.I enables innovative products (having a degree of safety equivalent to that specified elsewhere in BS5415) to be granted nationally recognized certification marks in advance of the publication of particular requirements in a Briti

32、sh Standard. Consequently, the requirements of this standard are not limited to those that have been standardized definitively. This clause is retained as an interim measure, pending agreement on an alternative method of certification for innovative products and will be deleted by amendment when suc

33、h a method is available. 36、t table on the inside front cover.BS5415-1:1985 BSI 10-1999 1 1 Scope 1.1 This Part of BS5415specifies general requirements for the safety of electrical motor-operated cleaning appliances intended for industrial and/or commercial use. Appliances with or without heating elements are included. Applian

37、ces intended for normal industrial or commercial use but which nevertheless may be used in domestic situations are covered; examples of such appliances are light duty vacuum cleaners, spray extraction appliances and light duty floor polishers. This standard does not take into account special hazards

38、 that exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision; in such cases, additional requirements may be necessary. This standard does not apply to the following appliances: a) appliances designed exclusively for household use; b) applianc

39、es intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas); c) separate motors; d) appliances for skin or hair treatment. For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additio

40、nal requirements may be necessary. For appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary. 1.2 This standard is concerned with safety and takes into account the influence on safety of components necessary to achieve a required degree of radio and television i

Definitions 2.1 Where the terms “voltage” and “current” are used, they imply the r.m.s. values, unless otherwise specified. Where the term “motor” is used, it includes magnet

42、ic drive units. 2.2 For the purposes of this British Standard, the following definitions apply. 2.2.1 rated voltage the voltage (for three-phase supply, the voltage between phases) assigned to the appliance by the manufacturer 2.2.2 rated voltage range the voltage range assigned to the appliance by

43、the manufacturer, expressed by its lower and upper limits 2.2.3 working voltage the maximum voltage to which the part under consideration can be subjected when the appliance is operating at its rated voltage and under normal conditions of use NOTE 1Normal conditions of use include changes of voltage

44、 within the appliance imposed by likely occurrences such as the operation of a circuit breaker or the failure of a lamp. NOTE 2When deducing the working voltage, the effect of possible transient voltage on the supply mains is ignored. 2.2.4 rated input the input, under conditions of adequate heat di

45、scharge (see 2.2.29) or under normal load (see2.2.30) and at normal operating temperature, assigned to the appliance by the manufacturer 2.2.5 rated current the current assigned to the appliance by the manufacturer NOTEIf no current is assigned to the appliance, the rated current for the purpose of

46、this standard is determined by measuring the current when the appliance is operating at rated voltage under normal load and at normal operating temperature. 2.2.6 rated frequency the frequency assigned to the appliance by the manufacturer 2.2.7 rated frequency range the frequency range assigned to t

47、he appliance by the manufacturer, expressed by its lower and upper limits 2.2.8 rated capacity for appliances with a liquid container, the quantity of liquid for which the appliance is designed 2.2.9 detachable flexible cable or cord a flexible cable or cord, for supply or other purposes, intended t

A method of attachment s

49、uch that the flexible cable or cord can easily be replaced, without the aid of special purpose tools, by a flexible cable or cord not requiring any special preparation. Type M attachment. A method of attachment such that the flexible cable or cord can easily be replaced, without the aid of special purpose tools, by a special cable or cord with, for example, a moulded-on cord guard or crimped terminations. Type Y attachment. A method of attachment such that the flexible cable
