17、3.1.10 threshold stopping speed, nchain speed that resultsin a14-in. cut in the bottom layer of the protective pad liner ina chainsaw leg-protective device.3.1.10.1 DiscussionThis value establishes the relationshipbetween the probability of cutting through the protectiveclothing (or foot-protective
18、device) and the speed of the sawchain. For lower chain speeds, the probability of cut-throughapproaches zero, while for higher chain speeds, the probabilityof cut-through approaches one.3.2 For definitions of other textile terms used in this testmethod, refer to Terminology D123.3.3 For definitions
19、of other protective clothing terms used inthis test method, refer to Terminology F1494.3.4 Pass/fail is a threshold stopping speed value measured inmeters per second (feet per minute) of chain travel speed thatresults in the stated 6-mm (14-in.) cut in the bottom of thelining of the performance pad

Summary of Test Method4.1 Test specimens are securely mounted on a test apparatusthat simulates a human leg.4.2 A chainsaw, of specific characteristic and operating at adesignated speed, is brought into contact with the test speci-men.4.2.1 The cutting
21、 action of the saw chain will achieve one ofthe following results: (1) complete cut-through with chain stop,(2) complete cut-through without chain stop, (3) no cut-through with a chain stop, or (4) no cut-through without a chainstop.4.3 Chain speed is measured electronically just prior tocontact wit

Chain speed is adjusted andreported based on these measurements.NOTE 2Materials may be characterized by repeated testing at differentspeeds; for quality control, results may be reported as “pass” or “fail” atone pre-selected chain speed.5. Significance and Use5.1 The purpose of this
