3、tion and mounting when testing Flexible Fibrous GlassInsulation for Metal Buildings to assess flame spread andsmoke development as surface burning characteristics usingTest Method E84.1.2 This practice applies to products described in Specifi-cation C991.1.3 This practice provides instructions for t
4、he testing of bothun-faced insulation (Specification C991 Type I) and faceinsulation (Specification C991 Type II).1.4 This practice does not provide pass/fail criteria that canbe used as a regulatory tool.1.5 Use the values stated in inch-pound units as the standardin referee decisions. The values i
5、n the SI system of units aregiven in parentheses, for information only; see IEEE/ASTMSI-10 for further details.1.6 This fire standard cannot be used to provide quantitativemeasures.1.7 Fire testing of products and materials is inherentlyhazardous and adequate safeguards for personnel and propertysha

12、 afibrous glass insulation, furnished in two types as described inSpecification C991. Type I is an un-faced insulation blanket.Type II is a Type I blanket that is post-processed by alaminating process that applies an adhesive bonded facing toone surface.1This practice is under the jurisdiction of AS

Significance and Use5.1 Flexible fibrous glass insulation for metal buildings isevaluated in accordance with Test Method E84 to comply withbuilding code requireme

This practice describes, in detail,specimen mounting procedures for Type I and Type II metalbuilding insulation materials.5.2 The material to be tested shall be representative of theglass fiber blanket, facing and bonding adhesive used in actualfield installations.5.3 The limitations for this p
