Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This classification system covers ASA and AES materi
3、-als, and ASA and AES alloys suitable for injection molding andextrusion. This classification system does not cover recycledASA and AES materials, and recycled ASA and AES alloys.1.2 The properties included in this standard are thoserequired to identify the compositions covered. There may beother re
4、quirements necessary to identify particular character-istics important to specialized applications. These may bespecified by using the suffixes as given in Section 5.1.3 This classification system and subsequent line callout(specification) are intended to provide a means of calling outplastic materi
5、als used in the fabrication of end items or parts.It is not intended for the selection of materials. Materialselection should be made by those having expertise in theplastic field after careful consideration of the design and theperformance required of the part, the environment to which itwill be ex
6、posed, the fabrication process to be employed, thecosts involved, and the inherent properties of the material otherthan those covered by this standard.NOTE 1This classification system and ISO 6402 cover the samesubject matter but are not technically equivalent.1.4 The following precautionary caveat

Terminology3.1 Except for the terms defined below, the terminologyused
16、 in this classification system is in accordance with Termi-nologies D 883 and D 1600.4. Classification4.1 ASA and AES materials, and ASA and AES alloys areclassified into groups according to their composition. Thesegroups are subdivided into classes and grades as shown inTable ASA/AES.NOTE 2An examp
17、le of this classification system is given as follows:The designation ASA0111 indicates the following:ASA = acrylonitrilestyreneacrylate, as found in TerminologyD 1600,01 = injection molding resin (group),1 = medium impact (class), and1 = requirements given in Table ASA/AES (grade).4.1.1 To facilitat
18、e incorporation of future or special materi-als, the “other” category for class (0), and grade (0) is shownin Table ASA/AES. The basic properties of these materials canbe obtained from Table A, B, or C as they apply.4.2 Reinforced, filled, and lubricated versions of ASA andAES materials, and ASA and
19、 AES alloys that are not in TableASA/AES are classified in accordance with Table A, B, or C.Table ASA/AES is used to specify the group of the materialand Table A, B, or C is used to specify the property require-ments after the addition of reinforcements, pigments, fillers, orlubricants at the nomina
20、l level indicated (see 4.2.1).4.2.1 Reinforced versions of the basic materials are identi-fied by a single letter that indicates the reinforcement used andtwo digits that indicate the nominal quantity in percent byweight. Thus, a letter designation G for glass-reinforced forpercent of reinforcement,
21、 G33, specifies a filled material witha nominal glass level of 33 %. 24、of thesystem (see Section 5).4.2.2 Specific requirements for reinforced, filled, or lubri-cated ASA and AES materials, and ASA and AES alloys shallbe shown by a six-character designation.
