Classification3.1 Types:3.1.1 Type IA low voltage rubber insulating tape designedfor use on wires and cables operating up to 2000 V phase

5、 tophase in dry locations with conductor temperatures up to 80C(176F) for continuous operation, up to 95C (203F) foremergency overload conditions, and up to 150C (302F) forshort-circuit conditions. For outdoor use, protect the tape fromozone attack and ultraviolet radiation by the use of a suitableo

6、verwrap. Apply the tape to the wire or cable within anambient temperature range of 10 and 40C (14 and 104F).3.1.2 Type IIA medium voltage, ozone-resistant, rubberinsulating tape designed for use with wires and cables operat-ing up to 35 000 V phase to phase in either wet or drylocations with conduct

7、or temperatures up to 90C (194F) forcontinuous operation, up to 130C (266F) for emergencyoverload conditions, and up to 250C (482F) for short-circuitconditions when installed in accordance with the manufactur-ers instruction. For wet or dry outdoor use, protect the tapefrom ultraviolet radiation by

8、the use of a suitable overwrap.Apply the tape to the wire or cable within an ambienttemperature range of 10 and 40C (14 and 104F).3.1.3 Type IIIA high voltage, ozone-resistant, rubber in-sulating tape designed for use with wires and cables operatingup to 138 000 V phase to phase in either wet or dry

9、 locationswith conductor temperatures up to 90C (194F) for continu-ous operation, up to 130C (266F) for emergency overloadconditions, and up to 250C (482F) for short-circuit condi-tions when installed in accordance with the manufacturersinstructions. This tape is suitable for wet or dry outdoor use.

11、h conductor temperatures up to 90C(194F) for continuous operation, or up to 130C (266F) foremergency overload conditions. This tape is suitable for wet ordry outdoor use. Apply the tape to the wire or cable within anambient temperature range of 10 and 40C (14 and 104F).3.1.5 Type VA higher voltage,

12、ozone-resistant, rubberinsulating tape designed for use with wires and cables operat-ing up to 325 000 V phase to phase in either wet or drylocations with conductor temperatures up to 90C (194F) forcontinuous operation, up to 130C (266F) for emergencyoverload, and up to 250C (482F) short-circuit con

13、ditionswhen installed in accordance with the manufacturers instruc-tions. This tape is suitable for wet or dry outdoor use. Apply thetape to the wire or cable within an ambient temperature of 10and 40C (14 and 104F).4. Physical Properties4.1 The tape shall consist of a non-crosslinked or partiallycr

14、osslinked rubber nonmetallic semi-conducting or insulatingcompound. The compound shall be well, evenly, and smoothlyprocessed, cut to the specified widths, and tightly wound inrolls with a separator between layers. Where a non-removableseparator is used, the separator will be considered an integralp

17、le material interposed betweenadjacent layers. The removable or non-removable separatorshall not interfere with the use of the roll during application.Where a removable separator is used, the separator shall bereadily removable from the rubber insulation without tearing ordamaging the tape insulatio

18、n. The outside end of the roll shallbe securely fastened.4.3 Rubber tapes shall conform to the requirements of Table1.5. Permissible Variations in Dimensions5.1 The tape shall conform to the nominal dimensions foundin Table 2 when tested in accordance with Test MethodsD 4325.5.2 The average thicknes

19、s shall not vary from the nominalthickness by more than 60.076 mm (60.003 in.) and theaverage width by more than 60.76 mm (60.03 in.).5.3 The average length of the rolls in any sampling shall beno less than the nominal length.6. Aging and Storage6.1 Tapes shall not become unduly attached to the sepa

20、ra-tors within the period of time specified in Table 3. They alsoshall meet the fusion test as specified in Test Methods D 4325when applied at the elongations specified for each type.6.2 Store the tape in the original boxes, preferably in a cooldark location. Do not keep tapes in close proximity to

21、steampipes, radiators, or other sources of heat.7. Test Methods7.1 Select rolls, conditioning, and testing in accordance withTest Methods D 4325.7.2 Unless otherwise stated, measurements are made ontapes from which the removable separator has been removed.8. Rejection and Retest8.1 If only one sampl

22、e roll fails to meet the specification,take a second set of samples in accordance with Test MethodsD 4325. Failure of two sample rolls constitutes grounds forrejection.9. Inspection9.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponby the purchaser and seller as part of the purchase contract
