Terminology3.1 For definitions of terms related to copper and copperalloys, refer to Terminology B 846.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 billetref
8、inery shape used for piercing or extrusioninto tubular products or for extrusion into rod, bars, and shapes.Circular in cross section, usually 3 to 16 in. (76 to 406 mm) indiameter, normally ranging in weight from 100 to 4200 lb (45to 1905 kg).3.2.2 cakerefinery shape used for rolling into plate, sh
9、eet,strip, or shape. Rectangular in cross section and of varioussizes, normally ranging in weight from 140 to 62 000 lb (64 to28 123 kg).3.2.3 capable ofpossessing the required properties orcharacteristics, or both, necessary to conform to specificationrequirements when subjected to specified test(s
10、).3.2.4 copper, electrolyticcopper of any origin refined byelectrolytic deposition including electrowinning. When usedalone, this term usually refers to electrolytic tough pitchcopper.3.2.5 copper, fire-refinedcopper of any origin or typefinished by furnace refining without having been processed ata
11、ny stage by electrolytic or chemical refining. When usedalone, the term usually refers to fire refined tough pitch copper.3.2.6 copper, oxygen-freeelectrolytic copper producedwithout the use of metallic or metalloidal deoxidizers, free ofcuprous oxide as determined by metallographic examination at75
12、3 under polarized light.3.2.7 wire barrefinery shape used for rolling into rod orflat products for subsequent processing into wire, strip, orshape. Approximately 312 to 5 in. (89 to 127 mm) square incross section, usually 54 in. (1372 mm) in length and rangingin weight from 200 to 420 lb (91 to 191
13、kg). Usually taperedat both ends.4. Ordering Information4.1 Contracts or purchase orders for product under thisspecification should include the following information:4.1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue (for example,B 379 XX),4.1.2 Copper UNS Number (for example, C10800),4.1.3 Shape required: wi

Materials and Manufacture5.1 Material:5.1.1 The product fu
18、rnished shall be produced from one ofthe following coppers as specified in the contract or purchaseorder:UNS Nos. 19、dized, high residualphosphorusC14200 DPA Phosphorus deoxidized, arsenical5.2 Manufacture:5.2.1 BilletsUnless specified otherwise, product up to andincluding 4 in. (102 mm) in diameter may be supplied shearedon one end with the other end flat. Billets over 4 in. in diametershall be supplied with both

Billets shall not be cuppedexcept by specific agreement between the manufacturer orsupplier and the purchaser at the time of purchase and theagreement shall be part of the contract or purchase order.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The product material shall conform to the requirementsprescrib
21、ed in Table 1 for the specified copper.6.1.1 These specification limits do not preclude the presenceof other elements. Limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements by agreement between themanufacturer, or supplier, and the purchaser.7. Physical Property Requirements7.1 Electri
22、cal Resistivity:7.1.1 The maximum mass resistivity for Copper UNS No.C10300, in the annealed condition, shall be 0.15614 ohms g/m2(conductivity 98.16 %, minimum, International AnnealedCopper Standard (IACS) at 68F (20C).7.1.2 The maximum mass resistivity for Copper UNS Nos.C10800 and C12000, in the
23、annealed condition, shall be0.17081 ohm g/m2(conductivity 90 %, minimum, Interna-tional Annealed Copper Standard (IACS) at 68F (20C).8. Performance Requirements8.1 Reverse Bend Test (Hydrogen Embrittlement Suscepti-bility):8.1.1 When specified in the contract or purchase order,specimens of product p
24、roduced of coppers UNS Nos. C10300,C10800, and C12000 shall be capable of withstanding aminimum of four bends without fracturing when tested inaccordance with Test Method D of Test Methods B 577.9.
