4、ltage side of the distribution networkwhere the thermal factor and not transient overvoltages or partial discharge is the dominating aging factor.These requirements also cover the investigation of the substitution of minor components of insulation ina previously evaluated insulation system and also

5、the test procedures to be used in the evaluation ofmagnet wire coatings, magnet wires, and varnishes.1.5 These requirements do not cover electrical insulation systems where transient overvoltages or partialdischarge are present. Such electrical insulation systems shall be evaluated to the appropriat

6、e standardfor the application. Such standards include, but are not limited to, IEEE C57.12.60, IEEE Standard TestProcedure for Thermal Evaluation of Insulation Systems for Dry-Type Power and Distribution Transformer,Including Open-Wound, Solid-Cast, and Resin-Encapsulated Tranformers.RATIONALE FOR D

7、ECISION:Electrical Insulation Systems (EIS) used in electrotechnical products intended for applications where thereare transient overvoltages or partial discharge, such as dry-type power and distribution transformers,including open-wound, solid-cast and resin encapsulated transformers, have been eva

8、luated for decadesusing the applicable IEEE C57.12 series of standards, to evaluate the effects of these potentialdegradation factors. UL 1446 has been used to evaluate electrical insulation sytems with respect tothermal degradation only, regardless of the application voltage.Therefore, the scope of
