11、 lifts and ramps associated with vehicles 1 Scope This standard details a) design and safety recommendations and operating procedures for tail lifts mounted on vehicles associated with the lifting of goods or freight, and b) installation and inspection recommendations for mobile lifts and ramps that
12、 allow entry or exit of persons with or without wheelchairs, into and out of vehicles through a height not exceeding 1,7 m. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. 18、n the following definitions shall apply: 3.1 appliance a term used to describe a lift or a ramp or both 3.2 auxiliary operation an alternative method of operation that can be used in the event of failure of the power source 3.3 competent person a legally qualified person trained for the task that is
19、 to be performed 3.4 mobile lift a lift that is portable and can be sited adjacent to a vehicle, and that enables a passenger-carrying platform to be raised and lowered 3.5 platform depth the dimension of the platform, measured at right angles to the adjacent edge of the vehicle 3.6 platform vertica
20、l travel the distance between the fully lowered and the fully raised height of the platform 3.7 platform width the dimension of the platform, measured parallel to the adjacent edge of the vehicle 3.8 power pack an independent source of power other than the vehicle prime mover 3.9 ramp length the min
21、imum dimension of a ramp, measured at right angles to the adjacent edge of the vehicle 3.10 ramp width the minimum horizontal dimension of a ramp, measured parallel to the adjacent edge of the vehicle 3.11 suspension a flexible means of support (for example, a rope or a chain), including its end att

23、aximum authorized load that the mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) is designed to carry in a given configuration 4 Mechanical requirements NOTE See also the safety requirements detailed in clauses 8 to 11 (inclusive). 4.1 Mechanical design 4.1.1 Safety factors Unless stated otherwise, the safety
24、factor applied to the yield stress for any part of the tail lift based on its work load limit (WLL) shall be at least 2. (See also 4.1.3.1.2, 4.2.1 and 4.3.1.) 4.1.2 Operating speed The unloaded lifting speed and the fully loaded lowering speed shall not exceed 0,15 m/s. 4.1.3 Wire rope suspensions
