SCOPE. This Commercial Item Description

2、covers brushes for.use with pneumatic or electric tools inthe removal of rust, scale, paint, or burrs from small or confhred areas of all types of metal surfaces.2. CLASSIFICATION. Unless otherwise specified brushes shall conform to the following types.2.1 Brass.2.2 =. Stainless Steel.2.3 Tvpe 111.H

3、igh carbon tempered steel.End attachment brush.3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Desi.en. Solid tilled bmsh with crimped wire extending parallel to 1/4 arbor shatl, filled to the centerof the brush.3.1.1 The body shall be of specified diameter and steel overall. Construction shall be in such amanner as

4、 to insure even distribution of the wire throughout the brush to provide a balanced unit forminimal vibration at maximum safe free speed. Provisions shall be made for securely holding the tillwires in place to prevent the wire from detachkg due to flex during use or at maximum safe free speed.3,1.2-

5、 The brush shall possess a round arbor shaft 1/4 inch in diameter and of steel. To minimizevibration the”arbor shall be referenced to the body in a manner that allows the brush to run true while inuse.Beneficial comments, recommendations, additions, deletions, clarifications, etc. and any other data

Where welded construction is used, the wire shall notbe burned, broken, or a

7、ffected in any way by the welding process.3.2 Identification markirw. The tool shall be marked with the Maximum Safe Free Speed, (RPM orMSFS), and the words “Wear Eye Protection”, the manufacturers name or identifying symbol and thestate or country of manufacture, unless otherwise specified. All ide

8、ntification markings shall be etched,engraved, molded, or indented directly on the items surface in such a manner that it remains clearlylegible throughout the life of the item.3.3 Workmanship. Details of workmanship shall be in accordance with the best commercial practices.Paints, coatings, plating

9、, and finishes shall be smooth, adherent, continuous and not stained or discolored.External surfkces shall be free of tool and gouge marks, nicks, or other surface imperfections. The itemshall be free from manufacturing workmanship defects (e.g. sharp or rough external edges, comers, orsurfaces) and

10、 material workmanship defects (e.g. pits, rips, tins, burrs, tears, nodules, cracks, or blisters),which may adversely impact the items serviceability, durability, safety, or appearance.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.4.1 Recovered materials. The supplier/manufacturer is encouraged to use recovered materi

11、als to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation(FAR).4.2 Metric uroducts. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basiswith those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the toler

12、ances specified (usingconversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376) and all other requirements ofthis document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions rmd those dimensions exceedthe tolerances specified in the inch- pound units, a request should be ma

13、de to the contracting officer todetermine if the product is acceptable.5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE.5.1- The brushes shall comply with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standardB 165.1, Safety Requirements for the design, Care and Use of Power Driven Brushing Tools.5.2 Product Conformance. The

14、products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of thk CommercialItem Description, conform to the suppliers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurancepractices, and the same product and offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reservesthe right to require

15、 proof of such conformance.5.3 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified, the supplier is responsible for theperformance of all inspection requirements and may use any commercial facilities (including thesuppliers own facilities) suitable for performance of the inspection requirement

16、s, unless disapproved bythe Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any inspections deemed necessary toassure the item conforms to the specified requirement.6. PACKAGING. Requirements of preservation, packhg, packaging, and marking of packages shall be asspecified in the contract or
