SCOPE. This Commercisd Item Description covers

2、brushes for use with pneumatic or electric tools inthe light duty removal of rust, scale, paint, or burrs ffom all types of metal surfaces.2. CLASSIFICATION. Unless otherwise specified brushes shall conform to the following types dclasses.2.1 Brass.Class 1. Threaded arbor.Class 2. Unthreaded hole.2.

3、2 Type IL Stainless steel.*Class 1. Threaded arbor.Class 2. Unthreaded hole.2.3 Tvoe III. High-cmbon tempered steel.Class 1, Threaded arbor.Class 2. 5、SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Desirm. The brushes shall be of the cup shaped design, and for use with pneumatic or electric portable a71grinders.3.1.1 The body shall be of steel overall and constructed in such a manner as to insure an evendistribution of the wire throughout the brush to provide good b

6、alance for minimal vibration at max ratedfree speed R.P.M. Provisions shall be made for securely holding the fill wire in place and to prevent thewire from detaching due to flex during use or at rated free speed RPM. Where welded construction isused, the wire shall not be burned, broken, or affected

7、 in any way by the welding process.3.1.2- As specified the brush shall either possess a threaded arbor or an unthreaded through hole ofspecified size to fit a mandrel. The threaded arbor shall have a 5/8-11 NC female thread in accordancewith the current version of Federal Standard HZ8. To minimize v

8、ibration the threaded arbor shall bemounted to the body in a manner that when brush is installed on a “ dimensional-crimps per inch ofspecified diameter and wire points (wire-density).3.2 Identification markiruz. The tool shall be marked with the Maximum Safe Free Speed, (RPM orMSFS), the words “Wea

9、r Eye Protection”, the manufacturers name or identifying symbol and the state orcountry of manufacture, unless otherwise specified. All identification. markings shall be etched, engraved,molded, or indented directly on the items surface in such a manner that it remains clearly legiblethroughout the

10、life of the item, a713.3 Workrnanshiu. Details of workmanship shall be in accordance with the best commercial practices.Paints, coatings, plating, and finishes shall be smo?th, adherent, continuous and not stained or discolored.External surfaces shall be free of tool and gouge marks, nicks, or other

11、 surface imperfections. The itemshall be free from manufacturing workmanship defects (e.g. sharp or rough extemai edges, comers, orsurfaces) and material workmanship defects (e.g. pits, rips, tins, burrs, tears, nodules, cracks, or blisters),which may adversely impact the items serviceability, durab

12、ility, safety, or appearance.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.4.1 Recovered materials. The supplies/manufacturer is encouraged to use recovered materials to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation(FAR).4.2 Metric Products. Products manufactu

13、red to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basiswith those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified (usingconversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376) and all other requirements ofthk document are met. If a pr

14、oduct is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceedthe tolerances specified in the inch- pod units, a request should be made to the contracting officer todetermine if the product is acceptable.5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE.5.1 S The brushes shall comply with American National Standards I

The products provided shall meet the salient

16、 characteristics of this CommercialItem Description, conform to the suppliers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurancepractices, and the same product and offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reservesthe right to require proof of such conformance.5.3 Responsi

17、bility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified, the supplier is responsible for theperformance of all inspection requirements and may use any commercial facilities (including thesuppliers own facilities) suitable for performance of the inspection requirements, unless disapproved bythe Government.

18、 The Government reserves the right to perform any inspections deemed necessary toassure the item conforms to the specified requirements.6. PACKAGING. Requirements of preservation, packing, packaging, and marking of packages shall be asspecified in the contract or order.7. NOTES. (This section contai
