1、METRIC DOD-W-70336 w/Amendment 1 8 April 2005 MILITARY SPECIFICATION WASHERS, (METRIC) , GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR Inactive for new design after 1 October 1999 This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE: 1.1 Scope. This specification

2、 covers metrically dimensioned carbon steel, corrosion resistant and phosphor bronze lock washers, helical spring, internal tooth and external tooth. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications and standards. The following specifications and standards form a part of this s

3、pecification to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specified, the issues of these documents shall be those listed in the issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DODISS) and supplement there to, cited in the solicitation. In the event of failure after reinspection, information concerning the failure shall be furnished to the cognizant inspection activity and the qualifying activity. 4.3 Deleted 4.4 Methods of inspectio

8、n. 4.4.1 Visual and dimensional. The washers shall be examined to verify that physical dimensions, surface roughness and workmanship are in accordance with the applicable requirements of 3.4, 3.5, 3.9 and 4.2.1.2. 4.4.2 Material inspection. Material inspection shall consist of certification supporti

10、ardness inspection. Samples taken as specified in 4.2.1.3 shall tested for surface hardness in accordance with NASM1312, Test Method 6 and 3.3.1. 4.4.3.2 Finish inspection. Samples taken as specified in 4.2.1.2 shall be inspected for adequacy of plating in accordance with applicable specification of

11、 3.3.2. 4.4.3.3 Magnetic particle (cracks) inspection. Carbon steel washer samples taken as specified in 4.2.1.2 shall be subjected to magnetic particle inspection in accordance with ASTM E1444. Corrosion resistant steel (CRES) 300 Series austenitic and phosphor bronze samples, selected per 4.2.1.2,

12、 shall be subjected to penetrant inspection in accordance with MIL-STD-1907. There shall be no evidence of cracks or pits as specified in 3.8. 4.4.4 Magnetic permeability inspection. Corrosion resistant steel (CRES) washers selected in accordance with 4.2.1.2 shall be tested for compliance with the

13、magnetic permeability requirement of 3.9. The test shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM A342. 4.4.5 Decarburization. Samples taken as specified in 4.2.1.3 shall be microscopically examined at a magnification of 100 diameters. There shall be no evidence of decarburization, the etchant shall be

14、5 percent nital. 4.4.6 Free height test. Helical spring washers selected in accordance with 4.2.1.3 shall be subjected to a compression, twice pressed flat, released, and the free height measured. The free height after the second compression shall conform to the requirements of 3.10.1. 4.4.7 Compres

15、sion and flattening test. Lock tooth washers selected in accordance with 4.2.1.3 shall be compressed flat and held for twelve hours. Upon release, the free height shall conform to the requirements of 3.10.2. There shall be no evidence of fracture of teeth or rim, or flattening of teeth with respect

16、to rim when examined in accordance with 4.4.1. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). When packaging of materiel is to be performed by DoD or in-house contractor personnel, these personnel need to con

17、tact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain packaging requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the Inventory Control Points packaging activities within the Military Service or Defense Agency, or within the military services system commands. Packaging data retrieval is availabl

NOTES 6.1 Inten

19、ded use. Helical spring lock washers. The helical spring lock washers covered by this standard are intended for general industrial application. They have the function of: (1) providing greater bolt tension per unit of applied torque for tighter assemblies; (2) providing hardened bearing surfaces to

20、create more uniform torque control; (3) providing uniform load distribution through controlled radii section- cut-off; and (4) providing protection against looseness resulting from vibration and corrosion. Tooth lock washers. The tooth lock washers in this standard are intended for general industria

21、l application. They serve to promote the retention of fasteners, such as bolts, screws and nuts, to the component parts of an assembly by increasing friction between the fasteners and the assembly and by providing spring takeup. 6.2 Ordering data. 6.2.1 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition document

22、s should specify the following: a. Title, number and date of this specification and the applicable specification sheet. b. Applicable specification part number (see 3.1). c.
