3、R WEIGHT BEAMS: 0.01 GRAM SENSITIVITY The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for specific gravity weighing beam indic

4、ating scales to be used as accurate weighing instruments. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The scales shall be classified by the types listed below. The selected type to be supplied shall be specified in the acquisition order (see 7.4(b). Type I - Three weight beams Type II - Four weight beams 3. SALIENT CHARACTE

5、RISTICS. The scale shall be of a three or four beam type with an adjustable platform and have a capacity of 0.01 gram to not less than 200 grams with a sensitivity of 0.01 gram at the capacity load. 3.1 Metals. Metals shall be corrosion-resistant or metal made corrosion-resistant by a suitable treat

The scales shall consist of the following components: 3.2.1 Weight beams. The weight beams shall be equipped as follows: a. Two or three beams with hanging sliding poi

7、ses or riders. b. A fractional bar having a capacity of 1 gram, graduated in 0.01 gram increments, and provided with a sliding poise or rider. c. An adjustment for setting zero point. d. An adjustment means for leveling the scale when out of level condition affects accuracy. 3.2.2 Stirrup. The stirr

8、up shall be corrosion-resistant steel, approximately 203.2 mm (8 inches) high and approximately 101.6 mm (4 inches) wide. 3.2.3 Pan. The pan shall be made of aluminum, polypropylene, or corrosion-resistant steel. It shall be removable from the stirrup or be movable to a vertical position within the

9、stirrup. 3.2.4 Platform. The platform for specific gravity determinations shall be adjustable. 3.2.5 Damping. Damping shall be incorporated into the scale and shall be achieved by one of the following methods: magnetic, air, or oil. 3.2.6 Accuracy. Accuracy shall not be affected by the scale being o

10、ut of level. 3.2.7 Cover. A plastic cover designed to fit the scale shall be provided. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition

11、 Regulation (FAR). 5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product o

12、ffered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Market acceptability. For acquisition purposes, the products shall be preserved, packed, and marked as specified in the acquisition order (see7.4(c). 6.2 Overseas packaging. Movable components of the balance

14、shall be secured in a manner that will prevent movement or damage during shipment and storage. The balances shall be packed in a fiberboard box conforming to ASTM D 5118/D 5118M, “Standard Practice for Fabrication of Fiberboard Shipping Boxes“ (DoD adopted). The box shall be closed, waterproofed, an

15、d reinforced in accordance with ASTM D 1974/D 1974M, “Methods of Closing, Sealing, and Reinforcing Fiberboard Boxes“ (DoD adopted). 6.3 Overseas marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129, “Standard Practice for Military Marking“, or FED-STD-123, “Marking for Shipment (Civil Agencies)“

16、, as applicable. 6.4 Domestic packaging, packing, palletization, and marking. Packaging, packing, palletization and marking shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951, “Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging“ (DoD adopted). 7. NOTES 7.1 Part or identification number (PIN).
