National foreword This standard includes safety requirements. This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 145 “Plastics and rubber machi

5、nes” (Secretariat: UNI, Italy). The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Maschinenbau (Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee), Working Committee NA 060-14-08 AA Kalander of Section Kunststoff- und Gummimaschinen. Representatives of manufacturers and users

6、of calenders, and of the employers liability insurance associations contributed to this standard. This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the “Machinery Directive”, Directive 98/37/EC, (valid until 28 December 2009) and the “revised Machinery Di

7、rective”, Directive 2006/42/EC, which takes effect on 29 December 2009, and which apply to calenders that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of the directives. Once this standard

8、 is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (“presumption of conformity”). The European Standards referred to in clause 2 of this d

9、ocument have been published as the corresponding DIN EN Standards with the same number. 31、08 (E) 4 Introduction This European standard is a type C standard as described in !EN ISO 12100“. The extent to which hazards are covered is indicated in the scope of this standard. In addition, machinery shall comply as appropriate with !EN ISO 12100“ for hazards which are not covered by this stand

32、ard. 1 Scope This European standard specifies safety requirements relating to the design and construction of multi-roll calenders intended for the processing of rubber or plastics. This standard concerns the calender alone including all components fixed to its frame. Annex A shows examples of variou

33、s types of calenders and annex B shows examples of calendaring processes. The following machines are excluded: two-roll calenders forming an integral unit with an extruder (roller head); two or three-roll polishing , laminating or embossing units (which are not calenders) installed downstream of ext

34、ruders in film processing lines. This standard deals with the significant hazards listed in clause 4. The following hazards are not dealt with: hazards generated by the materials being processed (see informative annex C); hazards generated by the processing of explosive materials, or materials which

35、 give rise to an explosive atmosphere; fire hazards due to ignition of flammable materials by contact with hot parts of the calender (e.g. in case of oil leakage); hazards due to electromagnetic, laser or ionising radiation; hazards generated if the calender is installed in an explosive atmosphere.
